Get The Hell Out of Your Life
The End of Your Rope: Where Jesus Really Meets Us
Ron explores why his episode "I Never Met Jesus in Church" became his most downloaded podcast ever, revealing how people are searching for authentic faith experiences outside traditional religious settings. He shares his journey of trading the pursuit of wealth for a relationship with Jesus that completely transformed his life 23 years ago.
• True spiritual transformation happens when we reach the end of ourselves, not necessarily in church buildings
• Many churches and preachers manipulate vulnerable people through prosperity promises and theatrical performances
• Pursuing wealth and success left Ron feeling increasingly empty despite financial accomplishments
• Simple, honest conversations with Jesus (like having coffee together) can begin a transformative relationship
• Sharing authentic testimonies of life change creates "relatable evangelism" that connects with people's real struggles
• Religious institutions often complicate what should be a straightforward relationship with Jesus
• God's love accepts us completely - even when we fail or make mistakes

It's time now to get the hell out of your life. A weekly broadcast with real people sharing real struggles and offering real hope. Today's show will encourage, inspire and empower you to face life's challenges with a bold confidence and renewed hope. Now let's join our host, ron Myers. The promoter.
Speaker 2:Hello, my friends, it is so good to be with you. Let's talk, let's just have a conversation. Today I've taken a break from my guest because sometimes we just need to have a conversation, stimulate our thoughts and our ideas. Our thoughts and our ideas. Last week I aired a show called I Never Met Jesus in Church, and that podcast caused the highest amount of downloads I ever had on my website for different episodes of podcasts, and it really showed me that people out there are searching and they're looking for real answers to who Jesus is. And last week, when I said I never met Jesus in church, I met him at the end of myself, the end of my rope, and I have over 200 interviews with people that met Jesus the same way. So I realized I thought I've been thinking about that actually all week, and so I want my website, the promoterorg, to be a place where you can go and be encouraged and empowered and inspired and hear other people's stories of transformation, of getting the hell out of their life and trying to do everything they can now to be on the path to discover their purpose, have some joy in life. They want to sing again, they want to laugh again. They just want to have some peace in their life. So one of the things to show it's tempting a lot, but I will not do that is I won't get into politics. It's all about Jesus. That's what it's all about. And I know I buy time on secular radio, so I know a lot of my audience on secular radio and the cities that I air this on most likely don't go to church. It doesn't mean they're not believers in Christ, but they just have no desire to go to church and they find Jesus in other ways in their life. And I think that's very important because I really do believe that right now there is so much chatter and talk and especially coming from the churches. I did a random little look just this morning before I recorded this show on the internet. I put myself in the place of somebody not knowing Jesus and not going to church and I said okay, ron, you're going to look at different churches, different preachers and you're going to then make a decision what you should do or what denomination and friends.
Speaker 2:I was just shocked at what I saw on the internet. I saw one preacher had on his altar all these bills I don't know if they were real bills or they were just fake bills that they made up in their office room. But he had all these bills on the altar and he was telling people he was stamping on them God's going to cancel all your debt. Just come up here and place your best offering, your best offering. And people, they weren't even walking to the altar to put money on the envelopes. They were running up there and throwing money on the envelopes because God was getting ready to bless them beyond words.
Speaker 2:And I thought to myself what a bunch of nonsense. You're bribing people with a provision by God, a blessing by them, giving you their hard-earned money, laying it on the bill. But you've got the music in the background, you've got the choir and you've got this polished preacher in a suit and a tie and just has all the right ingredients to be working in a carnival. And then what happens? In a month, maybe week, two weeks? These people never receive their blessing. They don't want any part of church or they think well, maybe it's something I did wrong. This is how people work, and I think a lot of organized religion in a lot of churches. They play on the weaknesses of individuals to get them on a weekly basis in their church, fill them full of guilt, full and full of fear and hope to get them back. Because, let's face it, church is a business. They have a building, rent to pay, they have utilities, they have a staff, they have all kinds of things. So you can't have people get too free with Jesus, in my opinion, because they may not come to church. They may go start their own ministry, they may go visit people on Sunday in the nursing homes.
Speaker 2:Then I go down and see another gentleman. They call him the Bam Bam Preacher. This was just really sick. He's bam and hitting people on the head, kicking them in the chest. Get off of you tumor or get the tumor leave this body. And he's, he's doing these healings. And bam, hitting people on the head and they're falling on the ground and people are yelling and excited and screaming and they all want to run up for this guy to punch him, punch them.
Speaker 2:And I'm thinking what in the world would people that aren't familiar with church and familiar with Jesus and they see this stuff? Why would they want any part of it? Jesus is not loud, he's not boisterous, he's not wild, he isn't going to jump up and down on your bills and have them canceled. Have all your debt canceled if you give him money. So I realized, looking at these and putting myself in the place of someone looking for Jesus, I wouldn't find him scanning through the Internet, in fact, I don't think. And I spent almost 45 minutes going through the Internet and seeing all kinds of weird stuff and I said this is no wonder why people are leaving churches, no wonder why people don't want to go to church.
Speaker 2:So what is the point of this show? The point of the show is to bring guests and myself and talk about what happened to us, to get the hell out of our life with Jesus. You know, I absolutely believe the key is that when we understand what Jesus did 2000 years ago when he walked this earth, and he is still doing it today, the Bible says he's the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. And we then gather the individuals, the witnesses, the people that are going to take and share their testimony of how they went from an old, dead, tired life to a brand new, exciting life. That's what we need. That's what we need. We need people that are willing to share their story.
Speaker 2:I don't get into theology on this program, you know, and I don't go and try to be something. I'm not, I'm just myself. You know, I'm just like most of you listening. I get lonely, I worry, I have temptation, I'm still struggling to get where I want to go, but I keep a stone, a little rock, on my desk that reminds me. By myself, without God, I'm as dumb as this rock and I can sink at any minute underwater, but with God, it's amazing the things that I can do. I saw Ben Shapiro. They asked him who Jesus was. Oh well, he was a Jew that was trying to lead a revolt and he was killed for it. You know, he's got a lot of influence in the world through his political views. So if I'm a nonbeliever and I hear that well, you know what I knew that Jesus was too good to be true. That's why, friends, you have to take a personal journey on your own.
Speaker 2:I remember when I first started going out into the world, I wanted to be a millionaire. I had no doubt I was on my way there. I bought books like Think and Grow Rich. I enrolled in Dale Carnegie courses. I enrolled in Success Motivation Institute, in fact, and Success Motivation Institute, in fact. I was a success coach with them and taught people how to set goals and how to plan for their future and how to make money, and it worked. But the only thing that I'd never learned in those success courses is how to feed my soul. See, I thought I would feed my soul with more and more money, but the more money I made, the emptier I became, and I realized that I had replaced the God I was told about, the God that saved my life when I was 11 years old. I had replaced that God Jesus with Benjamin Franklin, with $100 bills, god Jesus with Benjamin Franklin with $100 bills. And, frankly, it was the best day of my life when I traded in my quest to become a millionaire. I traded that in to follow Jesus, to find out who I was, what my purpose is in this world and how God could help me get from point A to point B 23 years ago.
Speaker 2:And I'm a satisfied customer of Jesus. I love it. And so when I tell people my story, even if they don't believe that it can happen to them, they aren't going to call me a liar. Well, I don't believe that it can happen to them. They aren't going to call me a liar. Well, I don't believe that story.
Speaker 2:Well, it's true, it doesn't matter if you believe it or not, and I think we are at a time in life right now that we have to begin looking for like-minded individuals and just ask people on your search in life, how did you do it? What does Jesus mean to you? What's your life like now? What was it like before Jesus? Start asking questions, just like the search for my million dollars came in my early days through those success manuals. My journey now for success in life because God does want us to be successful and all we do it comes through my mentor and my teacher, jesus Christ. See, today is the greatest day in my life when I wake up and say, lord, what are we going to do today? Because I can't focus on tomorrow, I can't live on yesterday's prayers, I can only focus on today, knowing that when I walk out of that house in the morning, I'm going to be bombarded, if I allow it, with negative news, whining, complaining of all kinds from everybody out there that is not happy with life, and there's a lot of people right now that are not happy with life. So I get out of my house, I get up, go out of my house and I'm prepared for a day with Jesus. And guess what? It's fun.
Speaker 2:Yesterday I spoke at a faith-based breakfast. There was about 75 people in the room and at one point I looked over that audience and I could tell I had their undivided attention. It wasn't me, it was Jesus. People are searching for truth, and the truth is not going to come through fancy church services. It's going to come when you have a one-on-one conversation with Jesus. So how do you do that? How do you begin a relationship with Jesus when you really don't know who Jesus is and you don't want to find out? And right now you don't even feel like picking up the Bible. Hey, I've been there, I've done that. Now you don't even feel like picking up the Bible. Hey, I've been there, I've done that. And right after the break I'm going to tell you what to do to begin a relationship with Jesus.
Speaker 1:today You're listening to Get the Hell Out of your Life with your host, ron Myers. Real stories, real struggles and real hope.
Speaker 3:Here's a refreshing word today from the book of Galatians, chapter 6, verse 2.
Speaker 4:Bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ this is scary.
Speaker 2:Hey, look who I ran into folks, Nancy Stafford from Matlock and I'm going to ask her, Nancy, how do you get the hell out of your?
Speaker 4:life? That's a very good question. We all need to get the hell out of our life and it really starts with our self-talk. It starts with getting the whispers and the lies of the enemy of our soul out of our minds. Refreshing and renewing our minds, like Paul talks about over and over again. He says take our thoughts captive. And renewing our minds, like Paul talks about over and over again. He says take our thoughts captive and renew our minds with the truth. So in my view it's achieved by getting rid of the lies that we believe, that sometimes we've grown up with and they've just become second nature to us. Replace those lies. It's not enough just to get rid of the lies. We have to replace them with the truth of what God says in his word. And if we do that over and over every day, we just get deeper and deeper and deeper into truth. The lies don't have any room anymore.
Speaker 2:Beautiful. Thank you very much.
Speaker 5:Spending time with God should be a good thing. It should be enjoyable, even exciting. But some people approach God with the wrong attitude. Sometimes people have a tendency to get what's called paranoid. Their misconceptions about God actually keep them from getting close to God. They're afraid God won't accept them because of their sin. You just stink to high heaven. They think they'll be rejected because of their disobedience.
Speaker 3:You get some kind of pleasure out of not listening to me.
Speaker 5:They think God is so wise and intelligent that he just looked down on them. The guy's a lamb, chopped short of a mixed grill, and when they dare bring their request to God, he won't be too enthused. This ain't no supermarket boy. If this sounds familiar to you, then you've been listening to the devil. He's always trying to convince you that God is offended by you. But when Jesus died on the cross, he gave you access to God at any time, especially when you blow it the Bible says God is slow to anger and abundant in mercy.
Speaker 2:See, I think that's beautiful. Let's talk friends. And now I want to tell you how to begin that intimate personal relationship with Jesus Christ. And I'm not going to tell you to go to church, I'm not going to tell you to run to the confession stall. I'm going to tell you to have a cup of coffee with Jesus. Tell you to have a cup of coffee with Jesus. Have a Coca-Cola if you don't drink coffee, but you sit down and you just. I even had in my early days. I had another chair across from me. It was empty, but I said, okay, jesus, you're in there, and I got to share my heart and friends.
Speaker 2:Then you just be honest. You know what's bothering you, you know the problems in your life, you know the sins in your life. You don't need to go to church to have someone beat the hell out of you and make you feel guilty, because you already feel guilty. Because if you didn't feel guilty, if you didn't feel like something was missing in your life, then you would never want to have a conversation with Jesus. It just doesn't work that way. Nobody wants to meet Jesus until the hell in their life has piled up and they know something has got to change. And then, when you're sitting there and you're talking with him, you will feel the peace, you will feel something begin to happen inside. I always love to say dear Jesus, speak to me. Today. I don't have to have these long drawn out prayers. Jesus, speak to me and friends, the dialogue begins. And once the dialogue begins, it goes from point A to point B, to point C, to point D, and soon you're on a journey and that faith is growing because of teamwork, you and Jesus.
Speaker 2:Now I've heard some preachers tell you well, you can't call Jesus your friend, he is God. Well, the Bible says that Jesus is our friend. So he is my friend and he is my mentor and he is my coach. So you don't have to call him your friend, but he's my friend because we have to have that mindset. Because what's a friend do? He loves us when we're down. She loves us, any friend. They love us when we're down. They love us when nothing is going our way. They love us when we're mean. They love us when we're grumpy. They love us when we fall. They love us when we fail. God is love.
Speaker 2:There was a concert Thursday night in Biloxi for King and Country, an absolutely amazing concert. And the one thing that their songs they write their songs themselves, luke and Joel for King and Country. And when you listen to the words of their songs, accept me as I am. I don't know all the other words, but they're all words, but they're all words of being accepted and, in other words, pouring your heart out to God and God not rejecting you, accepting you as you are Because, friends, when we begin this journey and we have that teamwork mentality, you and Jesus, things begin to change in your life. You think different, you do things different, you turn away from things. God's grace is sufficient for you. You don't have to beat up yourself for sin because, as God has erased your past, present and future, your sins are erased, giving you the opportunity to live a life with no guilt, life with no guilt, no shame, nothing but power and love of Christ in you, then becoming everything he created you to be. You know, it really is simple Organized religion, preachers, denominations have made it very difficult.
Speaker 2:Now someone out there and I have the critics. I know they listen to me, but I don't care. Maybe they'll learn something from me, but most of the time, I found that most Christians think they know everything so you can't talk to them. And that's why I buy time on secular radio to go to people that are like sponges. They just want to know more. And then they're adults. You're adult, you can make your decision of what way you want to go. But I'll ask these people that are critics oh, ron, you shouldn't say that, you shouldn't tell people they don't need to go to church. Well, I don't really say that you don't need to go to church to find Jesus, but let's just say, on your premise, you're right.
Speaker 2:Okay, today I'm flying across the Atlantic ocean, the plane goes down and I'm on a desert Island. Am I going to fall apart? Because there's no buildings, there's no counseling centers, there's no confessional stalls. I'm there by myself, me and, uh, some grapefruit. And what's that movie Cast Away? What's the? I don't know whatever. The volleyball's name was. Wilson, that was the name that Tom Hanks gave that little volleyball.
Speaker 2:God is there. God is with us when we want him there. God is for us. God is not us when we want him there. God is for us. God is not against us.
Speaker 2:Friends, it's too complicated. You won't meet Jesus in church. You'll meet him at the end of your rope. You'll meet him through the testimonies of other individuals. That's what builds up your faith. Talking to other people, listening to their stories of how their life changed, first of all, you find out how much hell they had in their life before they began a change. And you realize that you know what I'm not in this by myself. That person understands me.
Speaker 2:See, we have to have what I call relatable evangelism. When a preacher gets up there and starts preaching from the Bible and it's probably beautiful, Alec, I mean, they work on their sermon for a whole week Is that relatable? You know, you're sitting in the church and you're in the pew and you're sitting there thinking is he going to talk about relationships? Is he going to talk about divorce? Is he going to talk about being sick? Is he going to talk about not having enough money to pay my bills? No, they're going to do a polished, beautiful, no, they're going to do a polished, beautiful theological sermon.
Speaker 2:And you go to the car and you sit down and you scratch your head and wonder why did I just waste an hour of my time? Friends, my mission, my purpose is to share Jesus. The website the promoterorg has stories of people I've interviewed. It's all about Jesus no politics, no fluff, no cheese. It's all about Jesus and someday we're going to get this right before Jesus comes back or after Jesus comes back. But we've got to quit making it so difficult. Amen, amen.
Speaker 3:Ron will be back in a moment to wrap up today's conversation. Did you know what Ron did before he discovered his destiny? He was a promoter of secular entertainment and, by his own admission, he promoted anything he could make a buck at. At the pinnacle of his success, he walked away from it all so he could follow Jesus and discover his God-given destiny. That was over 20 years ago and he has never looked back. Today he's an inspirational speaker on a mission to empower individuals just like you to discover their God-given destiny. Ron put his story in a novel entitled the Promoter and he wants to give you a copy.
Speaker 2:My story is proof positive that God's plan for you and I is greater than all of our mistakes.
Speaker 3:Here's what a few readers have said. I could not put it down. I cried, giggled, gasped and laughed out loud. Ron has written a novel and self-help book all in one. This book is a message of hope. To request your free copy of Ron's novel the Promoter, visit our website at thepromoterorg. Now back to Ron.
Speaker 2:I'd love to send you a copy of my story, no strings attached. I don't come later and ask for a donation for the book. I produce those books to give them away. Well, friends, I want you, as you go out this week, really spend some quality personal time with Jesus. You can do it on your way to work. Just turn off the radio.
Speaker 2:There is just something that's so refreshing, so reviving about that quiet time, because that still quiet voice of God comes alive. Remember, when Jesus left this world, he said that he would give his children, his followers, those that believe in him, his Holy Spirit, a comforter, someone that would lead them in truth, and the truth sets us free. So, friends, we are never alone. And listen, it doesn't matter if you begin a conversation with Jesus today and it's going good for a week or two, and then you just blow it. You do something that's just boneheaded. He doesn't get up and no, he's always in that chair waiting for you to come back and say, hey, where you been? Yeah, I know you blew it, I've forgiven you. Now let's continue to build the life that I have given you. Jesus wants his reputation back and, by God, I am going to do that through this broadcast, through the website, the promoterorg.
Speaker 2:There are lots of podcasts from the last three seasons of people sharing their stories. I mean, there's some doozies on there, but today they are happy, they're singing again, they're laughing again and, most of all, they're helping other people discover their destiny and purpose. Friends, we are all in this together. Let's help each other, let's encourage each other, let's stand together, let's fall together and we will become what God has intended us to become. We will become more like Jesus, more loving, more compassionate and more fulfilled with life. Life is good with Jesus, so give him your heart today and he will give you his destiny. Well, I'm out of here. I hope you enjoyed the let's Talk conversation today. I'll have a guest next week. In the meantime, remember this that I love you, god loves you, and it's time to get the hell out of your life and have a cup of coffee with Jesus.
