Speaker 1:

It's time now to get the hell out of your life. A weekly broadcast with real people sharing real struggles and offering real hope. Today's show will encourage, inspire and empower you to face life's challenges with a bold confidence and renewed hope. Now let's join our host, ron Myers. The Provider.

Ron Meyers:

Hello, my friends, it is so good to be with you today. Well, 2024, a brand new year. Have you spent some time with Jesus and shared your heart of what you'd like to accomplish in the year 2024? You know a lot of us. We have dreams, we have ideas, but we never seem to get to where we want to go. Do you know what I'm talking about? And I want to share a story with you today. It ties in with a new year because I really think, if you listen to the story I have, it's going to encourage someone that you cannot ever give up hope. You can never give up faith. You must pursue and never quit. You cannot quit.

Ron Meyers:

Someone asked me the other day at the gym what would you attribute your success in life to? I said it's easy. I just never quit. I never believed in failure and even if I did not achieve the goal I set in front of me, I still had so much knowledge from it. And I will start my story today by recognizing a gentleman I just see died about a week ago, and that is Don Wildman, the founder of American Family Association. Now, don Wildman is a very special man, a friend of mine, because he gave me an opportunity to be in Christian radio when I should have had no business being around a Christian radio station. Let me explain.

Ron Meyers:

The first half of my life after I got out of the Air Force was I started a production company and started doing promotions, festivals all up and down the Gulf Coast area, and some of the biggest events I had were in Gulfport. One was the Gulfport Crawfish Festival, which featured bands, bikini contests and lots of beer that I sold. Well, I did this for about 17 years and then, right about into the 16th year, things were changing in my life. I was not having fun anymore. I was starting to discover Jesus more intimately, not just a knowledge of his name, but I started having a relationship and I did not like what I was doing. So I kept praying and praying and just say Lord, what is the direction? What is my destiny? Have you ever done that? Are you praying right now for direction to your destiny? Well, one thing led to another and I stopped my festivals and I said I just have to trust God.

Ron Meyers:

So one day I was having lunch with a gentleman named Roy and he asked me if he could get the phone number of a friend of ours, mark that he wanted to talk to him about something and I said sure, I'll give it to you. What do you need to talk to Mark about? Well, I need someone to volunteer in the afternoon to help with the Christian radio station. And I said I'll do it, because he knew I had a change in my life. I started following Jesus. And he kind of looked at me and laughed. He said you, you've never done Christian radio. Why you? I said I'll make you this deal. Let me try it for two weeks and if I don't do it I'll walk out the door and never come back. Well, I got to do the volunteer for a couple weeks behind the microphone. And when I went on that microphone I'll never forget the first day.

Ron Meyers:

And he was in here, roy, and introduced me as Ron Myers. Yes, a lot of you have heard this man's name, but now he's going to be helping out in Christian radio. Well, the phone started going crazy If the listeners called and said Ron Myers on Christian radio, get real, or we're not going to be listening to you anymore. And then I had another half of people called in that said Ron Myers on Christian radio. Wow, god will really use him. Isn't that, like our ideas, friends, you share our ideas and our goals with someone and or maybe a lot of people. Some will agree, some will disagree, and that's just how it is. That's how people are. That's why it always has to come down to our personal decision.

Ron Meyers:

So, anyway, I ended up being here as a volunteer on the radio for a few years and then the opportunity came to take over as station manager and Roy talked with Don Wildman and Marvin Sanders up at American Family Radio in Tupelo and they agreed to hire me as the manager. Now, don Wildman knew a lot about my past, but he trusted Roy, who was the manager at that time. When Roy said Ron is good, he really has had a change in his life and he will do good things, well, friends, I did go on and become a manager and did a lot of wonderful things, especially through Hurricane Katrina, with this station. I had Don Wildman's personal phone number and any time I needed anything I called him directly and he just said Ron, can it pay for itself and do we really need it? And I would say yes and yes. And we grew the station I managed in Gulfport, mississippi, to one of the best radio stations out of 200 stations in the country.

Ron Meyers:

So what's the point of the story? The point of the story is this that I do radio time every week to share Jesus' stories and I was changed by giving my life to Jesus and pursuing my destiny. Now, the day I went to Jesus and said Lord, I'm ready, what is it we're going to do in life? There was no radio station on my agenda, there was no podcasting, there was no rallies or concerts none of that. I never even knew about things like that.

Ron Meyers:

But when we follow our heart and we follow the things that God put in there before we were ever born, friends, the things that begin to happen on our life are really incredible. Why does it take so many times of me talking with people to encourage them to follow their dreams or pursue it and let God take the wheel, let God, let Jesus take the wheel and have faith? But no matter how many times I tell people from my experience, from the people's experience that I interview in this show, many of them never do. They end up just saying, well, I just am afraid to and I don't want to do it. But they really do want to do it, but they don't have the courage, and those of us that call ourselves Christians, those of us that call ourselves believers in Christ.

Ron Meyers:

What do we believe in? Do we believe in just going to church and that's what our life is, or do we believe that God has really something special for each of us, something that is so unique and it goes along with our personality, with our talents and our skills? You see, in my early days has a promoter of secular entertainment. I was very good at that. So what God did is just take those skills, talents and abilities when I was old enough that I really wanted to find the direction I needed to put my life in. So I had enough wisdom, enough knowledge that I learned from the world to bring it in to the Christian realm.

Ron Meyers:

Friends, there are many of you right now that have so much talent, skills and abilities. You could do some amazing things, and God can open doors to you to do things that you never had a dream to do. But if you don't get up and just move in the direction that Jesus wants you to move in, and you may ask well, what is that direction, ron? The direction is just start moving with Jesus, and just every day I talk about having conversations with Jesus is simply say what are we going to do today and begin to really purposefully you know search, ask questions. This is why it's so important to have a dialogue with Jesus, because I will tell you right now, 90% of the people that you talk to in this world, even Christians they're negative. They will tell you it won't work or why would God have you do this or why would God have you do that.

Ron Meyers:

And I'll tell you what, friends, part of the problem with Christianity is because so many Christians don't support each other. They have in their mind how they should live life, like the people call on the radio station. When I got behind the microphone for the first time, they didn't know anything about me, but they were going to quit listening to the radio station if they did not get rid of me. Obviously, it didn't work and God used me and is still using me, simply because I love what I do and I do what I love, and it's only one thing promote Jesus. I'm talking to someone right now that God is going to use you in a great and powerful and a mighty way to influence people's lives, businesses, but he's not going to do it with like a marionette, like that.

Ron Meyers:

You're a puppet on a string. He needs you for 20 to 24, to intentionally begin to search for what it is you were born for, because if you don't know why you were born and what you're here for, well, then how will you ever know when God puts you at the right place at the right time? You won't know. So you're going to think well, this has to be the wrong place at the right, wrong time. And I'm staying away from this because, to face it, friends, don't? We all like comfort, we get comfortable for a while and we don't want to change.

Ron Meyers:

Think about it how many people, when you go to church, you sit in the same seat every week? When you go to work, do you park in the same parking place every week, or every day, rather, what about driving home? Do you take the same route? We become creatures of habit, going through life like a robot, even Christians. There's so many Christian robots that act apart, look apart, go to church, say the right things, but they are so far from God's will for their life because they don't want to take the extra time it may take to find what God wants to do. And the truth is it doesn't take any time, extra time.

Ron Meyers:

God is willing right now, today, to anybody that will raise their hand and say Lord, use me, I'm yours, let's do life together, let's have fun, let's do what I need to do to discover my destiny. I thought about all that when I saw that Don Wildman had died. That man gave me a chance in life, helped me out tremendously with Hurricane Katrina, not only personally, but also here at the station, and he listened to me and he was a man of influence. And that's what God does when we are aligned with our purpose and our destiny he puts people of influence and purpose in our life. No, you may not be able to open the door you need, but there is someone out there that can open the door that you need open to get where God wants you to go.

Ron Meyers:

Don't think God is going to make you do everything on your own. No, in fact, he's going to assemble a whole team of people with different talent, skills and abilities and you will work together to accomplish good things encouragement and inspiration, empowerment, maybe new businesses, maybe new inventions, maybe writing, maybe painting. Who knows what God will have you do, but every single job that God has for his children is important to him. It's important to the world. But I know I know well. You say, ron, I'm just too old, I can't do this. Or you have fear, failure, fear of the unknown, fear that what other people will say, hey, I've been there, done that, I could care less. I will do what I want to do to the day I die. I'm not buying time on radio stations because I have to. I don't promote Jesus across the country because I have to, I want to. I love how my life turned out when I started following Jesus and I'm not any more special than anybody listening to this.

Ron Meyers:

So if you're ready for a change for 2024. Then I would suggest this Trust Jesus, give him your heart, he'll give you your destiny. Begin a dialogue with Jesus. Share your heart. He loves transparency. You know why my show works and so many people listen to it. It's not because I'm some brilliant man, it's because myself or my guest, we become transparent. We just share what happened in our lives and we share what happened when Jesus came in to fix up the mess that we made, and all of us make messes in life. So if you're ready for a change, if you're ready to live life with a little bit of purpose and passion and put some joy back in your life. It's so simple. It all begins with Jesus. In fact, it's all about Jesus.

Music: Jesus Take The Wheel:

Jesus, take the wheel take it from my hands, cause I can't do this all my own. I'm letting go, so give me one more chance and save me from this road. I'm on, jesus, take the wheel.

Ron Meyers:

Welcome back listeners. Boy, this hot cup of coffee On a cold, dreary day. I'm just having fun chatting with you. I hope you are feeling encouraged and perhaps something is starting to happen inside of you. Maybe hope is coming back into your life, because maybe 2023 was just a bad year. It was just a bad year and you're ready to start something new. Well, I will tell you, it is allowing Jesus to take the wheel and drive you to where he wants you to be. I want to mention I really love the story that I'm getting ready to tell you. I had told you in the first session of the, in the first part of this show, about Hurricane Katrina, and I'm at the radio station and we're just doing things to help out the community. Well, about two weeks after Katrina, we got word that Domino's Pizza, right almost next door to the radio station, had opened and we were all quite excited no more beanie weenies, no more Vienna sausage or potted meat, and I went down and waited in line to get a pepperoni pizza. A lot of them.

Ron Meyers:

And it felt so good. But I met this couple in front of me while I'm waiting and we started chatting Ken and Larenda and they were telling me how they were not able to have a honeymoon because of Hurricane Katrina. But Tony Robbins, the big motivational speaker, had got wind of this story and was going to take and send Larenda and Ken, all expenses paid, to the island of Fuji to have a honeymoon and have fun for over a week. I said, wow, that is quite amazing. I introduced myself and told them I'm with the Christian radio station right up the road and that I would like them to stop by one day and let's share the story with the listeners of Something Good coming out of Katrina. They did, and God's beautiful plan that I had no idea was going to happen ended up bringing Lorenda as part of my show on Friday afternoon. She was a co-host. We had a show called Thank God, I'm Free and Forgiven, friday, and Lorenda only had one rule. Now, yeah, she had a rule for me. She said now, ron, this is Friday, we're happy, so let's be happy and say happy things. I said, lorenda, I'm always happy. And she said no, ron, sometimes you're an instigator. And I said well, you are right about that. So no instigating on Friday afternoons. And we did that for many years until the station closed its doors.

Ron Meyers:

Unfortunately, lorenda passed away recently with an inoperable brain tumor, only 54 years old. Really very sad day for me when I heard this, because here's this lady that I could literally call any time of the day and just ask her. So what has Jesus told you today? And we would talk for maybe an hour. She was encouraging, she was a singer, she was just a large figure in the way of her voice, her personality, because she loved him more than me, she loved him more than her friends and she loved him more than her husband can. I'm talking about Jesus.

Ron Meyers:

Friends, when you love Jesus more than all the things in your life, it's a game changer. Everything in your life changes without you lifting a finger. He changes your thoughts, he changes your desires and, most of all, he changes your destiny. You become in a very, very critical time in this world. You become part of his hands, part of his feet, his voice, your destiny, your purpose, the reason you were born, comes to life, and life is good, life is great with Jesus. So, as we enter the 2024 year, will you consider letting Jesus take the wheel? Will you consider to Forget all the things that you've heard about Jesus probably most of them aren't true anyway and just do this Trust in the finished works of Jesus. Rest in his arms and let you know without a doubt that he's going to take care of you, he's going to love you, he's going to encourage you, he's not going to judge you, he's not going to condemn you. When you give Jesus your heart, he gives you your destiny and friends. Yes, he will drive you to your destiny.

Music: Jesus Take The Wheel:

Ron will be back in a moment to wrap up today's conversation. Did you know what Ron did before he discovered his destiny? He was a promoter of secular entertainment and, by his own admission, he promoted anything he could make a buck at. At the pinnacle of his success, he walked away from it all so he could follow Jesus and discover his God-given destiny. That was over 20 years ago and he has never looked back. Ron put his story in a novel entitled the promoter, and he wants to give you a copy. This book is a message of hope. To request your free copy, visit our website at the promoterorg.

Ron Meyers:

Now back to Ron. Friends, my time is up and I want to talk to someone out there that doesn't think they have a chance in life anymore. You've made so many mistakes that people have given up on you. They won't talk to you anymore, they won't help you anymore. You are isolated. Well, that has nothing to do with Jesus. He loves you unconditionally, he has a plan for you and you are in the driver's seat. You just have to give him the wheel and he will drive you to your destiny. I have a brand new blog I just posted on my website, the promoterorg, and it's one for 2024, and I give some ideas how to journey with Jesus to your destiny in the year 2024. Remember this, my friend I love you, jesus loves you, and when you give Jesus your heart, you will drive you to your destiny.
