Speaker 1:

It's time now to get the hell out of your life. A weekly broadcast with real people sharing real struggles and offering real hope. Today's show will encourage, inspire and empower you to face life's challenges with a full confidence and renewed hope. Now let's join our host, ron Myers. The Provider.

Speaker 2:

Hello, my friends, it is so good to be with you today. Have you had your conversation with Jesus today? Maybe a thank you, lord or Lord? I have a question. I'm concerned about something. Jesus loves it, but we have those daily conversations. My name is Ron Myers, I am your host, and this is a show called Get the Hell Out of your Life, and I interview people that share stories of hope, encouragement, stories that tell how they got the hell out of their life. I believe we are living in a time right now where we need to hear from people who have been in the trenches, in the trials, in the tribulations of life, but yet their faith took them to a different level. Their faith opened up doors of opportunity. As you see, friends, you and I have a plan, we have a destiny, we have an assignment here and today you're going to hear from a guest that I just had a fun time talking with him.

Speaker 2:

Saturday this past Saturday, I was on a road trip. It started Friday night in Hattiesburg, mississippi, at the Sanger Theater, listening and watching Michael W Smith in concert. That an incredible worship experience that was. When we get around people that are happy about Jesus, they worship Jesus. It makes us feel good and reminds us that, no matter what goes on in the world, jesus has our back.

Speaker 2:

Saturday I went up to the big city of Meridian, mississippi, for a birthday party for my wife's nephew, little Cooper Lott. So, while we are talking around the kitchen table, this gentleman was really intriguing talking about his mixes. I was just listening and then, finally, I asked him what do you do? And he said well, I have, bojack's Mississippi made mixes. I said really, tell me about it. And he started telling me about this vision, this dream that he had years ago from family recipes. And now he's in stores in Mississippi and Alabama. And I told him. I said, bojack's, I'm going to call you in the middle of the week. I would just love to take a few minutes and let you share your story with my listeners. So that's what I did. I talked to him and I talked to his beautiful wife, pat, and friends. They love Jesus, they love doing business out there in the marketplace, sharing their ideas with the world. So, bojack's, you are an entrepreneur, you are a man that loves Jesus. So have you always been a dreamer or inventor?

Speaker 3:

Yes, I, even as a kid, I was always making things, you know, or taking something and improving on it.

Speaker 2:

anyway, so just kind of take us down memory lane, tell us some of the stuff that you've done.

Speaker 3:

Well, I designed some free stands Bojack's stand and I developed a ladder stand that was different than anybody else's it was called a hot shot stand. And then, after that business, my wife and I started to make mixes, and we started actually with my mother's hush hush mix. We were on Sunday nights, we went to our pastor's house for small brews and they were going to raise money for a relay for life and of course we didn't know what we were going to do and past, our wife, donna, just said well, bojack those hush puppies that you make.

Speaker 3:

They're just the best. We used to go over there and cook fish and hush puppies and everybody just loved them. So we said, okay, we had always back of our minds in a few years. We had thought about going into business with them, but I think all we could see was the frozen hush puppies. We just never really dawned on us about doing something. You know, that would be our driving it, but anyway, we decided we'd make 50 recipes, put them in nail bags and took them to the show. And I took hush puppies and gave people a little crown and see how good they were. Anyway, by about 10 o'clock we had sold out. So Pat and I said, wow, wow, you know, we're on to something here. So we started going to show.

Speaker 3:

The first show we went to we had to borrow a tent, borrow a table, borrow chairs. Didn't have anything to start out with. And first thing, when we got the extra money, we bought a tent and then we bought some director chairs that we could sit and talk to people and we just started going to the shows and one thing led to another and we started bringing in some of the other recipes, the family recipes. A pop-out recipe was deer steak and anyway, we started doing that and people loved it. So we got FDA approved, remodel our basement and started from nothing. Actually, Joey and take the wig that I was, bill he was first customer that we had. They are one of our very best customers and a real Christian man and I know he is he is help us. And then we went from there and just started going to the, to the different store, with my wife. It was a sale person and she started to go in stores and I went to stores and we ended up with around 160 stores In Mississippi and Alabama.

Speaker 2:

That's where, right now, faith is a real important part of your life. You love Jesus, don't you?

Speaker 3:

Yes, I do. I believe it's Jesus is playing and I will say this I went to my great grandson's birthday party Saturday. He was five years old and I believe that God put people in your life. There's no coincidence. It's a plane and God put you in my life. I never would have met you if it hadn't been for God. So we thank him for that and we thank him for putting you in, I guess, in my path.

Speaker 2:

I was fascinated to talk with you, bo, because you were a dreamer, you were a doer. You and your wife had these visions of taking those family recipes and putting them in stores. That's incredible to somebody that is struggling in business. What advice would you give that person?

Speaker 3:

Well, I think the first thing I would say is that you need to build your company around Jesus, and I think that that is would be the main thing, but working hard is the next thing. Believing in your product would be a big thing to do. It's easy to get disappointed when you start a business and really get disappointed, but you have to keep at it and you have to keep praying and you have to believe that everything's going to work out and it does. Just. Like I said a minute ago, there is no way that you and I would have ever been in touch with each other. We would never know each other if it hadn't been bad, and I believe that I believe that.

Speaker 3:

I know originally I was going to go to the hospital and have a shot in my back and Lord put every roadblock to keep me from having that shot and I will always believe that and I didn't have it because of that and I do believe that it was him that did that for me.

Speaker 2:

So you have some personal experience in life with Jesus. He's helped you out of a few situations, hasn't he?

Speaker 3:

Well, 35 years ago I drank a lot. I drank every day. As a matter of fact, I was a contractor and you know, if you're working for yourself like that, it's kind of easy to get away with it. But I was having a lot of problems and I had went one night to look for some dolls. One friend of mine had some hunting dogs.

Speaker 3:

That was gone and I got up by myself and I was in the woods and I had a friend of mine that was a good guy until he drank and you just couldn't stand to be around him when he drank. He was real mean and talked real bad. I found myself being that person. That's what I was doing. I was ranting and raving to myself and I just caught myself and I wasn't going to church or anything at the time.

Speaker 3:

I was raising the church, but I wasn't going at the time and I stopped and I caught myself and I said, lord, if you would just take the taste for alcohol away from me, I will never drink again. And I had a few beers. I just threw them in the woods and you know, ron, I never wanted alcohol again and I drank every day and I never wanted and I never touched it and that was 35 years ago. He turned my life around from the kind of person that I was before and I have given my testimony a lot of times and I know that if you believe in him that he can turn your life around, seeing you on the direct need to be going.

Speaker 2:

Do you have a website? How can people listening right now find some of the product that you sell? It's Bojack mixes, and that's how it's listed, your wife supporting you, helping you with websites and emails. You are a match made in heaven, am I?

Speaker 3:

right, that's true. She stood behind me when times were tough. She's been with me through the good and the bad, and I don't know what we'd do without each other. Really.

Speaker 2:

How long have you been?

Speaker 3:

married 36, 35 years.

Speaker 2:

What's the secret to a long lasting marriage?

Speaker 3:

Well, I believe one of the things, of course, would be Jesus and then going to church and all, and it's a lot of guilt and a lot of take. You have to do that and I think that might be the one of the secrets to marriage is to give and take all the time. It's not about one person, it's about both of you. You have to look at it and you have to lean on each other and, like I said, you have to have to be there for each other when it's good, and you got to be there for each other when it's bad.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, exactly. Would you tell them about the dear stand that you invented?

Speaker 3:

I had another business back years ago and I had started out looking for a I guess a better mouse for a half. I was looking for a better stand that I could actually sit on. I mean, I was saying that was on the market. They were very, very uncomfortable and, you know, sitting on a piece of metal for an hour or so was not an ideal way to hunt. So I started working on my seat and then I came up with a. It was caught. We named it the Bogac stand and it had a came by that security to the tree. And I know that I was at a place in Arkansas showing to a guy and of course they're always skeptical, and so he had me bind it to a light pole and he's a big guy, he got on it. You said, well, it's pretty sturdy.

Speaker 3:

So I got on it and we started putting people on it and we got up to about a thousand and twelve hundred pounds on it and nothing moved on it. So the binder wasn't like anything that anybody had ever seen. And then I had a thing I didn't get that went from the stand to the to the ladder that was holding stand where you bind it to the tree. So we were chosen as the most inventive idea at the AMO show up in Louisville, kentucky the first time that everyone up there. So I was real proud of that and I feel her on that thing.

Speaker 2:

And Mossy Oak was selling that, wasn't it?

Speaker 3:

Yes, matter of fact, I had a call one time from Topsy Hayes at home, mossy Oak, and I really didn't know Topsy and I mean to hear him. You know it was like man the president and I was real excited about it and it was telling me, you know, I, and he immediately started talking about that. He said BoJack, I sit on that stand for three and a half hours. I looked it over and he said I come to compete, I was going to call and take that Z best stand I've ever sat in and I wouldn't change one thing about it. Whoever came up with this and I know it was you was a real Bo Hunter.

Speaker 3:

I thought man that was some kind of great compliment to me.

Speaker 2:

You know what God has given all of us certain talent, skills and abilities. And not only did you make a great deer stand, but now you've got BoJack's mixes.

Speaker 3:

And it was one thing I did want to mention that when you try to get in touch with us on Facebook, the BoJack's mixes. I just wanted to interject.

Speaker 2:

On Facebook. Okay, bojack's mixes. Yeah Well, bo, I know you're busy. Before we go, I would love for you to pray for our listeners.

Speaker 3:

No, I don't mind at all. Yeah, when Father, we come to you and Lord, we just ask you that if our listeners are aren't Christians and they're not going to church now, we just pray that you lay it on that heart. I know that it's changed my life and since I've quit drinking Lord and started going to church and got saved, lord, my life has just went in a totally different direction. We've been blessed in so many ways, me and my wife, that I could start to mention all of us that we've been down, lord and with our business and Lord. We just sometimes we didn't know what to do, but you always opened up a path, lord, and that's what it'll do for anybody that believes and really gets into the to your word, lord, and believes in you. Lord, we know what you can do for us. Jesus name, our prayer, amen.

Speaker 2:

And right after the break I'm going to unwrap that conversation I had with Bo Jackson and you're going to hear some things that you did not hear in that conversation.

Speaker 5:

Some of us are building highways, not with our hands, but with our hearts. We're on a journey that doesn't have an end. It's a rough road, but we know that someday it will be worth every rugged mile. Why don't you join us? We're the Christians. Now, I know you've heard a lot of weird things about us most of it not true. We don't really care. We just know that we're going to live forever and we can have an abundant life along the way.

Speaker 5:

Jesus is our guide on this journey called life, and he said that he came to give us life that goes on forever and an abundant life. Hey, it's a toll free highway. Jesus already paved the way. All we have to do is come on board. You don't have to be religious, you don't have to be perfect. You just have to accept the fact that Jesus already bridge the way to heaven. Then you have to put him behind the wheel, but when you finally let go and let Jesus take over, it's amazing how you find the journey a lot more peaceful, because life without Jesus is kind of like going four wheeling on a skateboard. Take some time to learn about Jesus. You'll find out how he can build an eternal highway in your heart.

Speaker 2:

Welcome back to Listeners. I'm Lauren Dago. Wow, what an awesome singer. Nine years ago I had Lauren Dago in concert with Big Daddy Weave and that evening, when I was serving her dinner prior to the concert, I said Lauren, you do know you're going to go on and be a big star, don't you? And she looked at me and said do you really think so? Well, the rest is history.

Speaker 2:

Bo's story was fun to listen to. It reminded me as I'm reminded many times when I hear individual stories how God will take an idea and let it just grow. You know, and that idea was first planted from his mother's hush puppies recipe. Think about that. Would Bo have went to that fundraiser for the church if he didn't have an award-winning hush puppy recipe from his mother? Probably not. So his mother plants the seed of great food and Bo begins to share his mother's recipe with the world at a church fundraiser and soon a business, a big business, is born. Only God can do that. As Bo said, he knew at that relay for life fundraiser he was on to something. Well, friends, god is on to something with you. You're tuned in for a reason. Do you know that you are only one thought away from a divine breakthrough, one divine thought, from a new idea. And where can that idea come from? Only from God. You're not gonna get that from anywhere else, because God wants the credit.

Speaker 2:

I remember when I got out of the Air Force I was in five years at Keisler Air Force Base. I got out really didn't know what I was going to do. I was managing a health club and I asked the owner one day. I said you know, bodybuilding is really becoming popular. Why don't we do a bodybuilding competition? And we could sell a lot of memberships. Well, he didn't want to put the money into it and I told him I would. I'll put up the money and then I'll sell the memberships. Well, I did. I put together, mr and Miss Gulf Coast. I remembered so clear that night. I was on the stage, I was like 24 years old and I looked at the audience and I'm thinking to myself this is incredible. This was just an idea I talked about in a gym and now people are leaving their house, getting in their car, taking money out of their wallet to buy a ticket to watch a competition. That started with an idea Wow, I was onto something. That's how Ron Myers Productions was born, and that was over 40 years ago. Hundreds of events throughout the Gulf South, impacting millions of people that attended these events.

Speaker 2:

The power of an idea, the power of an idea that you have. I talked when I opened a show up about having a conversation with Jesus. Now, that would be a great conversation with Jesus. Hey, jesus, I know you have something for me. I know you have an idea. I know you have a dream Boy. Lord, I would really like to know what it is that you want me to do for you in my life.

Speaker 2:

Friends, that's where it begins A thought, an idea. And you know why it will work when God deposits it into your spirit, because you have a passion. You know that. You know that you're onto something.

Speaker 2:

Friends, we're in trouble in this world right now because not enough Christians have felt that they're onto something.

Speaker 2:

We're waiting for people to direct us.

Speaker 2:

We're waiting for individuals or politicians to change policy so we can have a better life.

Speaker 2:

But I will ask you this If you could snap your finger today and solve all the problems in this world and in the government, would it take the hell out of your life?

Speaker 2:

No, the hell in your life can only be taken out by Jesus.

Speaker 2:

And when you take the hell out of your life, the doubt, the fear, the unbelief, you allow then God to download ideas, inspiration, encouragement into your spirit and soon you find yourself smiling, you find yourself intrigued with something that you've been thinking about. Now here's the key when you go and tell people about this idea that you believe God is leading you to be prepared, not all the people are gonna jump on the bandwagon and say go, go, go. No, a lot of them are gonna say are you sure? You sure that wasn't the pizza you ate last night? And that little indigestion is causing you to think some silly things. Friends, I've been there, I've done that, and I'm sure Beau heard the same thing. Often in life, when God is making a change in our life, opposition will come from friends, family and associates, but we have to be faithful to the call that's in our life that God has given us. As Lauren Dago said in that bumper music, you are strong. You are more than a conqueror. You are who God says you are. You are a winner.

Speaker 1:

You're listening to Get the Hell Out of your Life with your host, ron Myers. Real stories, real struggles and real hope.

Speaker 6:

Ron will be back in a moment to wrap up today's conversation. Did you know what Ron did before he discovered his destiny? He was a promoter of secular entertainment and, by his own admission, he promoted anything he could make a buck at. At the pinnacle of his success, he walked away from it all so he could follow Jesus and discover his God-given destiny. That was over 20 years ago and he has never looked back. Today he's an inspirational speaker on a mission to empower individuals just like you to discover their God-given destiny. Ron put his story in a novel entitled the Promoter and he wants to give you a copy.

Speaker 2:

My story is proof positive that God's plan for you and I is greater than all of our mistakes.

Speaker 6:

Here's what a few readers have said. I could not put it down. I cried, giggled, gasped and laughed out loud. Ron has written a novel and self-help book all in one the best book I've read in a long time. This book is a message of hope. To request your free copy of Ron's novel the Promoter, visit our website at thepromotororg. Now back to Ron.

Speaker 2:

Well, friends, my time is up and I have enjoyed that conversation today, not only with Bo, but just sharing some life ideas with you. Friends, it doesn't matter what's going on around us. If we don't tend to our business, our spirit, our relaxation, our assignment in life, we will miss out on so much that God has for us. God is for us and not against us. God has a plan that nobody can come against. So I want you to remember that this week, as you're going out and doing life with Jesus, have lots of conversations with Jesus and, most of all, remember this you are only one idea away from a breakthrough in life. You're only one idea away from you saying I think I'm on to something. Friends, I love you, jesus loves you, and when you give Jesus your heart, he not only takes the hell out of your life, he will put you on to something.
