It's time now to get the hell out of your life. A weekly broadcast with real people sharing real struggles and offering real hope. Today's show will encourage, inspire and empower you to face life's challenges with a bold confidence and renewed hope. Now let's join our host, ron Myers. The promoter.
Ron Meyers:Hello, my friends, it is so good to be with you today. Today we're going to talk about overcoming adversity and enjoying success with God's help. Success is a concept that resonates deeply with many of us, whether it's in our careers, relationships or personal growth. But what does it mean to achieve success with God's help? Well, my guest today is going to share her story of how she overcame adversity and today is enjoying success with God's help. Her name is Trudy, she lives in Jacksonville, florida, and for you to hear where God has taken her on her life journey is quite empowering. And later in the monologue, I will share five action steps to help you overcome adversity and enjoy success with God. But first, trudy, what's your story?
Trudy Toche:Well, I've definitely had a full life here. Grew up in Gulfport, mississippi, native to Mississippi Gulf Coast. After graduating from the University of South Alabama, you know, I had a degree in the healthcare field. I worked a few years here at a local hospital and then it was time for my next move. I had an opportunity to move to New York City, and I was always an adventurer, and so I took the opportunity, ended up in New York City for a few years, new Jersey for seven years. That's where I kind of started my career and started a family. And then, of course, you know, when family comes, life changes, your priorities change and I ended up in Jacksonville Florida. Are you still married? I'm not. Jacksonville Florida.
Ron Meyers:Are you still married?
Trudy Toche:I'm not. I am currently single.
Ron Meyers:You hold a prestigious award, don't you, with Mary Kay Cosmetics?
Trudy Toche:Yes. So life changes when you have children. So in New York City daycare was very expensive and so I reviewed kind of my life being a new mom and so I stepped away from my career and was being a mom. But I loved my career. I loved helping people in the hospital, and so Mary Kay Cosmetics came into my life. I went to just an event and fell in love with it. I fell in love with the philosophy. It definitely aligned with my upbringing and so I started with Mary Kay Cosmetics. So I weaved it in and out of my life for several years, just you know, kind of playing around with it. And when the big life change happened, I really sat down and reviewed kind of where I was and I was like you know what, I'm going to see, what this little business can really do. And I set a big goal and it was a really big goal and I was number one in sales for Mary Kay Cosmetics out of 2.5 million other women.
Ron Meyers:That's awesome, but before you got there, there was probably a lot of low parts in your life. What is some of the adversity that you've gone through and how did you get past adversity to discover success?
Trudy Toche:Well, I have to say I am truly, truly blessed to have a humble background and you know what. I was always brought to church, you know, with my family, my grandmother. That was also just something that was a part of our life growing up here in Mississippi. And you know, as you grow and get older you kind of go away from it. You know college age and stuff, but the seed had been planted. That seed had been planted and I gave my life to Christ. I think I was around 10, 12 years old and so he was always in my heart, 10, 12 years old, and so he was always in my heart. And so, as life kind of gets tough, you kind of lean back to God and Jesus and asking for help and guidance as you go through the valleys of life. I definitely my faith was super important and you know God will carry you when you asked him for help.
Ron Meyers:Now you've got children that are getting ready to go off to college, right? What kind of mom advice do you give them to head out in the world when mom and dad aren't around them?
Trudy Toche:Well, you know, I've been a solo mom for 11 years. I like to say solo mom. I don't like the label of single, because that's exactly what I am. Their dad lives several states away and it was up to me to take care of business, and so that's a reason that I love Mary Kay so much, because it was freedom and flexibility to flex in and around our really challenging life of being a solo mom and not having family. My boys are I can't even believe it they're 21 and 18. The oldest is going into the military, the Marine Corps.
Trudy Toche:Yeah, and the youngest will be graduating in a few months and he'll be headed off to college. University of Florida is his top choice. But I have always been able to really to show the boys I've always been an example of show the boys that life is going to get tough and so churches and going to church and having God in our life has always been an important part of our family unit. You know we do daily prayer, morning to night, and I do what I can because it's tough, challenging, raising children, boys period in this day and age, and so I really do try to just sprinkle God and Jesus into our life because I know things are going to get tough.
Ron Meyers:You have been a solo mom for what? Eight years? No for 11 years 11 years has that been a tough thing.
Trudy Toche:It has faced.
Ron Meyers:I've faced many, much adversity and challenges, just you know, raising kids today even you know Well and I ask that because there are a lot of people listening right now that are in that same boat Any advice or wisdom that you'd give them.
Trudy Toche:You know, for me, that's where I really started to lean in on God and I'm like, okay, lord, I thought my life was going this direction and it's not. So give me the strength and courage, and that's what I would pray every day. It's like, lord, give me the strength and courage to get to the next day, and I think, as being a solo parent or a single parent or any challenges that you have in life you really just want to get to the next best day, your next best step, and a lot of worry and anxiety that people have is worrying about the past and you can't change that, or worrying about the future and it's not here yet, and so you really want to stay in the present, because that's truly a gift.
Ron Meyers:Is attitude important?
Trudy Toche:Well, I think for me and my business. I don't know how much you know about Mary Kay Cosmetics, but Mary Kay was a devout Christian and she was a real person. You know Betty Crocker was not a real person, but Mary Kay was, and she was also a solo mom of three and everybody told her she would not be successful. She used her life savings mid forties to start this company 61 years ago. It's over 40 countries worldwide and they're number one in skincare, and so they really, really, really do a great job, both on the research and development, the professionalism, and we are a privately held company based in Dallas, texas. Our mission statement is to go on a roll do unto others, as you have, do unto you. And then Mary Kay really said you know, for all of our sales force, really it's God first, family second, career third. And then Mary Kay really said you know, for all of our sales force, really it's God first, family second, career third.
Trudy Toche:And whether you're in Mary Kay or out of Mary Kay, when you have those principles aligned, you can be successful in whatever you do. And so for me, I really look at Mary Kay as a part of. I feel like I'm a Mary Kay missionary. So when I do my work, of course money's important and it's a business model, but I don't really place the business thing first. I placed with the opportunity to be a blessing over someone else's life. I'm going to help you look and feel beautiful and I'm going to coach you to that, or I and you're going to hear about God, because I pray with all my clients before any event.
Ron Meyers:So you care about your clients I do they become family? I tell people love what you do, do what you love and just care about the people you are dealing with and money just seems to appear. What advice do you give people, or maybe someone that is thinking about starting a business, because it took you quite a few years to get to have the title you have now right?
Trudy Toche:Yeah, I've been with the company for 20 years and, you know, until I really had life adversity, like truly life change, I started to sit down and just evaluate kind of where I was. Now, because of this amazing company and the opportunity, I've launched another business. It's called Positively Profiling. That is my speaking business. I speak coach and that is another avenue of a job that I branched out of Mary Kay and because of the award and people want to hear me train on sales development, speak coach.
Ron Meyers:Okay, coach someone out there. They're having a rough time, they're thinking about quitting their business and nothing is going well, even though they have a great business. You're the coach. Tell them what do they need to do.
Trudy Toche:So I sit down just quickly and really evaluate kind of where they're spending their time and their mindset. You really do have to have a clear mindset and what your priorities. What are you spending your time on? And I say God is number one. Like you got to have him ingrained and threaded into your life, because you cannot be successful in anything you do without some type of connection, relationship with God.
Ron Meyers:Yeah, that's a good point. And I tell people, winners never quit and quitters never win. And sometimes people are so close to quitting and if they would just hang in there a little longer, the blessing and everything comes.
Trudy Toche:That's when the breakthrough happens, on that very, very pivotal point, to where people just feel hopeless and they want to give up. If you just keep going and pray for strength, courage, for doors to open. That's what I'm doing right now in my season of life. I'm like, okay, lord, where, after all of this that you've given me and everything that you've brought me through now, what do you want me to do, um, and how do you want me to show up? Because I'm here to serve you, to build the kingdom, um, and so that's an exciting place to be, and so the door will open. You know, he will open a door that no man can.
Ron Meyers:So were you ever in a position in your life where you felt hopeless?
Trudy Toche:I think for me, the most challenging time was during the divorce. It was not planned. I did not want to be divorced. I prayed for many years for things to be different and it was not. And so then, what happens with for me? During that time, my whole life changed Like okay, now where do I go, what do I do, how do I live life, how do I proceed? And literally I got in my knees every single day and ask God for strength and courage and for direction.
Ron Meyers:That is so important what you bring up, trudy, strength and courage, because a lot of people have great ideas and they have great business models, but they just don't have the courage to follow it all the way to the end. They hit a bumpy road. I know because this happened in my life. I've been on my own since I was 15 years old and I've had a lot of bumps, but I was always focused on where I want to go, and that, as a successful entrepreneur you are, is what I tell people. You've got to believe. You've got to believe that you will achieve it and, as you said, have that strength and have that courage. So the days you don't want to get up, you don't want to make another phone call, you don't want to go to a meeting because you think they're going to say no to you, I tell them hey, don't prejudge. You know, sometimes the blessings come out of the things that we avoided the most. And then we do them and we think, why was I so afraid of it? It turned out pretty good.
Trudy Toche:Yeah, so one of the great things that I tell my children and people that I coach and you know just some great advice is really going to take a checklist of who's in your corner, who's around you. You are a product of the five people you hang out with, and so that's a good point.
Trudy Toche:If you're hanging out with people who are naysayers, you're going to be naysayers. If you're hanging out with people who are going to jail guess what You're going to jail. And so on the positive note, if you are hanging out with people who are goal setting um positive moving forward in life, you it rubs off on you.
Ron Meyers:And you even went on a mission trip, didn't you, with Tim Tebow's father.
Trudy Toche:I did. I'm on my second trip Uh the first one during the life change um and 2018, I had the opportunity to go with Mr Bob Tebow to uh serve with him and his ministry to the Philippines for two weeks.
Speaker 4:Wow.
Trudy Toche:And their mission is how do you help thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands of people that need help? It's through Jesus Christ and giving them hope. So I hiked in many villages, backpacks for the day, and remote. They'd never seen anyone from the US or light-skinned. They didn't have running water, electricity, and that was astounding to me. I mean, I knew it happened, but when you experience it in the flesh and for me to say that I'm here to give you hope, and hope is through Jesus Christ, is really. I cried every day.
Ron Meyers:Wow, yeah, I think I was really awestruck when you told me about your experience over there. Maybe I'll go one day with Mr Tebow.
Trudy Toche:What's the name of his?
Ron Meyers:mission.
Trudy Toche:Mr Bob Tebow, you can Google it, for cause Tim also is his son and they don't. They live very close to me in Jacksonville, so it's wonderful to be able to be so close to them and their mission is Jesus Christ. And so I did get my calling, really when I was in the Philippines after serving for two weeks. So I really encourage people to volunteer because you know what you think you're going to help them and they end up blessing you, and so when you serve others, they end up blessing you, and so for me, I was on after crying, you know, for two weeks serving. I was like Lord, what do you want me to do now? Like where do I go from here? And he spoke to me on the beach in the area of Osiris in the Philippines and it was like I'm talking to you now. He said rise up and say my name, be a light for others to follow, and that's it.
Ron Meyers:Well, and you've done it. And now with a platform of being the top Mary Kay salesperson out of 2.5 million people, what a platform you have. You sell a lifestyle, a change in an attitude. You help make over their whole attitude and whole life, not just their looks, right.
Trudy Toche:Well, I think you know anybody who's successful, whether you're going to medical school, whether you're, you know, going to be the top in insurance or radio, or just fill in the blank. Things that you have to do on the daily applies the same. You have to get up early, got to lead a healthy lifestyle. You got to really be around positive people. You got to be spirit led, or you have to believe in something higher than you, and for me it's, of course, jesus Christ. You got to have good sleep. I mean, you've got to set your goals clearly in front of you, you have to reevaluate your goals, and so those are the types of things that you just that any successful person needs to have in their life. I love it.
Ron Meyers:I love it. You're doing good. I'm fired up just listening to you. Trudy, you said something to me that I thought was awesome Happiness is an inside job. What?
Trudy Toche:do you mean? Happiness comes from within. So you really do have to each and every day work on what is making you happy, and for me it's living a God-filled life, having positive people around you, the things that really matter, loving your family, your health, and so no amount of material things is going to fulfill a void for you. And so, yes, it could be designer clothes or the fancy cars, the house, and none of that stuff is important. If you first do not have your life filled with God and the love that he has for you and you have for him, none of that other stuff will ever ever be able to make you happy. And so many people because with social media and what's out there are really chasing those things. And if anybody out there would like to reach out to me to learn more about my speaking coaching programs, you can reach me on IG at Trudy Positively Profiling.
Ron Meyers:Well, listen time is running out and before we go, will you pray for our listeners please?
Trudy Toche:Sure. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you so much for the blessings that you give us each and every day. Thank you for Ron and his mission and his listeners and followers, his listeners and followers. Lord God, I'm just so thankful for this opportunity to be able to share your name and your word with others that are listening, and you know, if we can just help one more person by being an example for you know, for others to follow, then we are doing your work, and I just want to bless all the listeners here and just encourage them to keep going forward. Seek you out, lord God, and I just hope that you open doors and restore everything that you need to do, and I just am so thankful for this opportunity and who you created me to be, to be sitting here, speaking, saying your name and building your kingdom In Jesus' name, amen.
Ron Meyers:When I return, five action steps to help you overcome adversity and achieve success with God's help.
Speaker 1:You're listening to Get the Hell Out of your Life with your host, ron Myers. Real stories, real struggles and real hope.
Speaker 5:We all go through our days on earth with a plan and many of us have long-range goals we want to achieve, whether it's business or personal. My name is Mark and this is the Journey. Inevitably, we will all run into roadblocks on our path to our goals. Some roadblocks are minor, Others can be devastating, life-altering events. Proverbs 16 tells us that the heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes our steps. Proverbs 19, many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. We will all face some adversity as we strive towards goals that we've set for our life, but the Bible is clear that when we include God in our plans, we can and will experience success. Proverbs 16 goes on commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established.
Speaker 5:In the book of Job we see that God frustrates the plans of the crafty person so that their hands achieve no success. It has been God's desire from the beginning of time to be a part of our lives. Jeremiah, chapter 29, reminds us that God has a plan for each of us. It's a plan to prosper us and not harm us, to give us hope and a future. Matthew, chapter 6, Jesus says it best Seek first the kingdom of heaven, and everything you need will be given to you. As we make our plans for our life, on our journey to our goals, let's remember to seek God first and to honor Him with our plans. The Journey Him with our plans.
Speaker 4:Here's a refreshing word from Ephesians 5, 1 and 2. Therefore, be imitators of God as dear children, and walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us. Get the hell out of your life.
Speaker 1:Get the hell out of your life.
Ron Meyers:Get the hell out of your life. Welcome back listeners. I want to share five action steps to help you overcome adversity and achieve success with God's help. But first, it's important to recognize that God has uniquely designed each of us with specific talents, passions and desires, and as we pursue our goals, we can find comfort in knowing that, with God, he is with us every step of the way. Philippians 4.13 assures us that we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us. Now, this strength is not about just physical or mental endurance, but about the spiritual empowerment that comes from our union with Christ. Here are five action steps that will help you overcome adversity and enjoy success with Jesus.
Ron Meyers:Number one embrace your identity in Christ. Recognize that you are a new creation in Christ, fully equipped to face any challenge. Your identity is not defined by your circumstances, but by who you are in Him. Number two depend on God's strength. Trust in the power of Christ within you to overcome adversity. Remember that his grace is sufficient and his power is made perfect in your weakness.
Ron Meyers:Number three renew your mind. Focus on the truth of God's word and allow it to transform your thinking. Meditate on scriptures that remind you of God's promises and his faithfulness. Number four live by faith, not by sight, my friend, trusting that God is working all things together for your good, even when circumstances seem challenging. Believe in his plan for your life. Number five rely on the Holy Spirit. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you and produce his fruit in your life, such as love, joy, peace and patience. These qualities will help you navigate adversity with grace and strength. Remember, my friend you are complete in Christ and he is with you every step of the way. Your success is not measured by worldly standards, but by your faithfulness and trust in Him. If you need something more out of life than what you've already experienced, if you need a new start, a clean slate, if you want to live life forever, you need God in your life.
Trudy Toche:If getting old has you depressed, growing up sometimes scares the daylights out of you If you want to know what the future holds. Get in touch with the one who holds the future.
Ron Meyers:Stop wasting time and get a hold of God.
Speaker 1:It's not about earning points by being good. It ain't about some boring church. It's not about working your way to heaven.
Trudy Toche:Finding.
Speaker 1:God is not about following some group who claims to be the only way to God. It's not about being religious. It's not about religion. It's all about God's only son.
Speaker 4:It's all about Jesus. It's all about Jesus. It's about Jesus Christ. Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father, but by me.
Speaker 1:Well, someday, when I stand before God and he asks me why should I let you into heaven? All that's going to matter is if I knew Jesus or not, and that's what it's all about.

That's God's promise to you when you choose to commit your plans and future to Him. Now back to Ron.
