Speaker 1:

It's time now to get the hell out of your life. A weekly broadcast with real people sharing real struggles and offering real hope. Today's show will encourage, inspire and empower you to face life's challenges with a bold confidence and renewed hope. Now let's join our host, ron Myers. The promoter.

Ron Meyers:

Hello, my friends, it's so good to be with you today. Have you felt my prayers for you? That's right. Every time I think about it, I pray for my listeners because this journey you and I are on, we have a lot more in common than you probably realize. And if you can hear stories, and I can share stories of people that overcame struggles and now walk with a peace, a purpose and a passion, I have to share that with you because you deserve to have the very best life that God has created for you. But you know one thing that gets in the way a lot is our past. Have you ever been guilty or you felt shameful for things that you did in the past? You don't do them anymore. In fact, maybe you follow Jesus, but yet the past just seems to haunt you. Well, today we are going to set someone free from their past. Maybe it's you.

Ron Meyers:

I met Michelle inside my Christmas City gift show. She was one of my vendors. She had a glow about her face and after the Sunday morning church service, her and I had a conversation and wow, she has a story that you need to hear, especially if some of the battles are the shame and guilt from your past and later the monologue. I want to help you rid that shame and guilt that you may carry with you and enjoy the life that Jesus has waiting for you a good life. But first let's take a listen to my conversation with Michelle. Well, michelle, I met you at Christmas City. You were one of my vendors. I could tell something about you. You have a friend named Jesus, don't you?

Michelle Fulkerson:

I do, I do, and it seems like the more.

Ron Meyers:

I got to talk to you and hear some of your story and it seems like the more I got to talk to you and hear some of your story, you told me something that somebody told you one time that you need to open the door to your future.

Michelle Fulkerson:

We were at a prayer meeting and I was there with a lady named Cherie, who is actually the director of the National Day of Prayer, and I was sitting on the side and she was praying and the Holy Spirit just came over her and she came behind me and just wrapped her arms around me and she had me stand in the center of the circle and she said it's such a beautiful prayer. And she just said, michelle, the Holy Spirit just told me that you have got to let go of your past. You've got to let go of your past. You've got to let go of your past. You are forgiven. You are so forgiven. He has paid the price for you.

Michelle Fulkerson:

And she took off. She had the most beautiful and I have it framed beautiful key. It's adorned with rhinestones. She took it off of her neck, she placed it over me and she had me physically turn around and she said we are locking the door to your path. We are closing. We are closing that door. You are not to go back to your past. You have been forgiven all of your sin, all of your shame, all of your guilt. It's all behind you.

Michelle Fulkerson:

And then she took her hand and as she prayed over me, she turned me and faced the other way and she said we are now opening your door to your future. And it was the most beautiful, beautiful moment. And you know, and it just showed me. You know, I think sometimes we pray for forgiveness and we're like, ok, we're forgiven, but the enemy can be so loud and he can attack any day, any given moment, sometimes during your best moments, that you think you're going forward. And then that enemy, but she told me. She said I want you to keep this key and it had been given by somebody that loved her dearly. And it is beautiful. And I said are you sure you want to give me your keys? She said yes, because I don't ever want you to forget this minute. I don't ever want you to forget this moment that the Holy Spirit loves you enough, where he just told me to give this to you.

Michelle Fulkerson:

And I had that kind of love because I was struggling so much with my past at that point, so much with my past at that point I had gone through a very long, hurtful divorce where I was so worried about my kids' future and what I had done, and the guilt just overwhelmed me. It was like suffocating, and it had been years, but I still was holding on to it and it was just the most beautiful moment. And so I do have a heart for other women that are going through the same thing and I try to. I try to share that story because it was so. It had nothing to do with me, but everything to do with God. You know, when God loves us so much that he will use somebody else to speak to us, you know, just to Well, right now, right now you're speaking to people on radio and through a podcast.

Ron Meyers:

So I agree, I think a lot of people that I've met over my life, many hundreds of people, they can't get past their past. So right now somebody listening says, wow, that sounds like me. What would you tell that person that cannot get past their past.

Michelle Fulkerson:

That we all make mistakes. We all make mistakes and know this. The enemy is real. The enemy is here on earth and he does that you know. You hear that he comes to kill, steal and destroy. That is so true, that is so true. And you have to get to the end of yourself, the end of your hurt, the end of your pain, because it wasn't always this is what I had to realize about me. I was wallowing in my own self-pity for so long and I didn't even realize it. You know it was over. I did this, I did this, I did this, I did this. Yes, I did, I did. I cannot take that back. No matter how much I hurt, no matter how much I hurt somebody else, you can't take it back. But God loves you so much, God loves you so much. And you have to get to the end of yourself where you realize okay, I did make a mistake, I did.

Ron Meyers:

I met you at the show Christmas City. You had customers around you, you have a glow. So when you opened your door to the future, did you notice a difference, even with your relationship?

Michelle Fulkerson:

with.

Ron Meyers:

Jesus.

Michelle Fulkerson:

Yes, yes. So when you open the door to the future, what you're doing, when you feel guilt, you're still letting that enemy in and that's what he wants. So you close that door and you open the door and you're like, okay, I'm here now, I'm with the presence of God, I'm filled with the Holy Spirit. Here now, I'm with the presence of God, I'm filled with the Holy Spirit, and it is the most remarkable feeling that you could ever imagine to walk in freedom, to walk in peace, to have that relationship with the Holy Spirit and just be in love with your Heavenly Father, and I talk to Him all day long, every day, every day. And it's just such a walk in freedom.

Michelle Fulkerson:

You know, we on earth, we're never going to be perfect. That's just how it is Right. But to know that now I have a purpose, and it's to minister to other people, to tell them about you, can be forgiven, you can have a bright future, you know, and and just all because of the grace of God. So I wear a t-shirt almost every day because it's what I believe. On the happy butterfly and on the front of it it says grace, transformation, restoration. The happy butterfly Because through grace we can be transformed and reformed, and that's the story of the happy butterfly.

Ron Meyers:

Part of my ministry has been for years of always telling people that we have to discover our destiny. We have to discover our destiny, we have to discover our purpose and we have to trust and believe with all our heart that we are forgiven and that we can move in to the future. Because Jesus said there is no guilt, there is no condemnation for those that are in him, and so guilt and condemnation is something, like you said, the enemy wants to use on us. Michelle, I was just speaking to someone the other day, a gentleman who really has a hard time getting past his past. When you're forgiven, you're forgiven, you're totally forgiven. You're a new creation in Christ, so maybe he's listening. Could you tell him something?

Michelle Fulkerson:

I would just say the enemy has a hold of him and that's what the enemy likes to do, and I've been with so many people and heard so many stories. But when you fully, fully, you can believe in Christ. That's one thing. But when you fully give your life to Christ, when you fully give your life to Christ, he will experience a blessing like no other. He will experience forgiveness, he will experience peace. So the enemy is still lying very loudly in his ear right now and he's got to shut that door.

Ron Meyers:

We have to get him a key like your friend gave you.

Michelle Fulkerson:

Yes, and I'm telling you that when she did that, because I believed in the Lord, too right, I believed in the Lord. I believed in the Lord when I sinned. I believed in the Lord when I kept blaming myself. But until Sheree prayed over me that day and physically turned me and made me lock the door and then turn back around and open the door, I mean, and the Holy Spirit was so filled that it was like the enemy. The enemy is answered, as I always say, he's real, like people. I think people believe in God, but they don't believe in satan. They're. They're both real, right, and I think, until we understand that, that you have to physically, mentally, spiritually, like you when you entertain the devil like he's still going to whisper yes and I don't mean

Michelle Fulkerson:

entertaining unlike entertainment could be still guilt and shame.

Michelle Fulkerson:

And it because he'll grab you and destroy you any way he can. Because when you walk through something like that, like what I have, I'm a threat to the devil, because I'm going to tell your friend and I'm going to tell your person exactly what the devil's doing and you've got to turn your back on him and you don't look forward. My friend, pam, is my pre-mentor, so I'm probably I pray in tongues, I have a lot of visions, so I and she always tells me you don't entertain those visions, why do you think you see them? And I've seen, I've seen the devil, I've seen spirits, and so she always says you look forward. You grab under the garment and you look forward, don't entertain those thoughts, don't entertain. And I've had to really go through like why do I see them? And it's always a warning to other people that you know, and I think he plays with me to scare me, but it doesn't anymore. You know, I keep my vision straight ahead. You don't look to the side, because you know you're walking in purpose.

Ron Meyers:

Yeah.

Michelle Fulkerson:

You know you're just, you're walking a perfect and that's what I know that he loves to destroy. You just close your door on that path and just keep going, Keep going.

Michelle Fulkerson:

And once he opens that door and he forgives himself and he has a relationship with Christ, you know he's going to walk in such freedom and he's going to have a story bigger than he ever imagined, and so he just needs to get to that point. The devil doesn't like us being able to tell those stories right. He doesn't like us to get out and say what God has done and what it's like.

Ron Meyers:

Well, and what we have? To also remind ourselves continuously that we are possessed by the Holy Spirit. The devil has nothing to do with this, he can't invade us, he can't come into us, he can only lie to us. And that we have to do is just hear those thoughts, those and say get behind me, I have the spirit inside of me and God has a plan for me. And right now a lot of people are out there missing, missing things in life, because they have this spirit of fear. And God said he has not given us a spirit of fear but power and love and sound mind.

Ron Meyers:

Michelle, you have the microphone now. There are men and women listening that have not been able to get past their past, and I know you have a very special heart as a woman for other women out there. They're wearing a lot of hats, doing a lot of things, and yet they don't seem to have a lot of peace in their life.

Michelle Fulkerson:

And it's a real feeling, isn't it? Because life is so full of struggles daily, you know to want to be enough for everybody, you know, and you get to feel like you're getting pulled a million miles apart. And I think for women, especially if they have children, you know they want to put their children first, as we all do, you know, and sometimes it just feels like you're never enough. I would say definitely make time for yourself each day with the Lord and just pray and talk to Him every day. I have found that, as I pray every morning and then at the day, you know it's like okay, okay, god, what are we going to do today? And just constantly build that relationship with Him. Okay, you know, and it might be so simple as okay, lord, let me put on a happy face while I'm cooking dinner, but when you make Him your best friend throughout the day and you speak positive, you know about your love for him and about yourself. It just it makes your days easier. It makes your days easier and you become a role model for your children and those people around you too, when they see you know the grace in you.

Michelle Fulkerson:

I remember when I talked to you the first time and you said you're different, you're, you're. You can tell you have a passion and I do. And it's not my business, it's God's, and it's because I'm so passionate, because he loves me so much and I love him so much. We're just in a wonderful relationship and he loves us all, he loves us all. And once you develop that relationship with him, him and he becomes your passion every day. Like my work's not my passion, my that, my joy does not come from painting, it comes from the lord and it's, and some days I don't want to paint and I think about okay, but what does he have in store for me, you know, and it's, it's for women it's. It's hard sometimes to find their own joy because they are so spread, so thinly, and especially the women that I've talked to that have been rescued from sex trafficking, they feel worthless, you know. They feel so worthless.

Ron Meyers:

We have a lot of people out there that are hurting, but the good news is there's people out there like you and millions of others that are doing life with Jesus. Doing life. I tell people listen, you know, we have to have oxygen to breathe and to really thrive in life. To understand we have to do life with Jesus. He becomes the center of our life and everything from the center then flows out. You know, we don't have to worry about the future. He's got the future. We don't have to worry about tomorrow. He's got tomorrow. He just wants us to do life with him. Slow down a little bit and relax and chill out, like I say, and just enjoy yourself. If someone asked you who is Jesus to you personally, michelle, what would you tell them?

Michelle Fulkerson:

He's my best friend, lord and Savior, who has loved me enough to forgive. Took all my sin away so that I can live in freedom.

Ron Meyers:

Before we close, I want to ask you will you pray for my listeners?

Michelle Fulkerson:

I do, heavenly Father. We just come to you, dear Lord, and just ask for everyone listening to feel a complete peace in their lives, dear God, and to know that their walk is not a walk alone, and for them just to know how loved they are and how forgiven they are and there is a bright future. God did not intend for you to be sorrowful. He did not intend for you to be unhappy. He wants you to live in fullness. He wants you to live with joy and to live with purpose, and we all have a purpose. We all have such a strong, strong purpose, and if you haven't found yours right now or at this time, it's okay. It's okay. Just lean on Him for understanding and ask Him and be open to His Word and not to do it alone. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. And, god, we just pray that everyone has a heart full of your joy and a mind to be open and to listen to your word. Amen.

When I return. Five action steps to rid yourself of guilt and shame from your past.

Speaker 1:

Five action steps to rid yourself of guilt and shame from your past. You're listening to Get the Hell Out of your Life with your host, Ron Myers.

Speaker 4:

Real stories, real struggles and real hope. Whom?

Speaker 1:

the Son sets free is free. Indeed, I'm in the head of encouragement. This is the journey.

Speaker 4:

My name is Mark and I want to encourage you today that if you've asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins, you are indeed forgiven. The problem is we have trouble forgiving ourselves. Once we come to Christ, we are suddenly aware of all the things we've done in our life. Guilt rushes in and we become burdened by our shame. But Jesus came that we might have life and have life more abundantly. This means understanding that when you asked Jesus to forgive you, he did. In 2 Corinthians 3, Paul reminds us where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. When Jesus set you free, he took away the spiritual death penalty you were facing before you came to Christ. But you can live your life in freedom today, knowing that God has removed that sin from you as far as the East is from the West. In a relationship with Jesus, you are forgiven and free. Here's a refreshing word today from Galatians For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Speaker 1:

You're tired of how you're living. We'll change it.

Ron Meyers:

You don't like where you're headed, rearrange it. Welcome back listeners. So we want to move on from our past, but our guilt and shame just seem to stop us. It is so tough. I talk to a lot of people and they are really wonderful people doing some wonderful things, but sometimes that past, some of the things they did, just haunts them. They can't get past it, just like Michelle talked about. So I want to share today some ideas that can help you be free.

Ron Meyers:

I know when I first started following Jesus, I had to remind myself on a daily basis that I am a new creation in Christ. I am not the old Ron, I'm the new Ron. I'm defined now by who Jesus says I am. I know I'm loved and I know I am fully forgiven by Jesus. The other thing I had to do was continually renew my mind, fill my mind with scripture that talked about God's grace, the finished work of Christ. I would memorize scripture and when I started thinking about the past, I would just preach to myself I am a new creation in Christ and I have a new mind and new desires. And the other thing that I really had to do was trust God, because when you're out there trying to change your ways from what you used to do. You're always going to run into those cynical friends that are saying, oh God could really use you with all what you used to do. They don't get it, they don't understand it, so don't even argue with them. What I did is I just trusted in God. I told them. Jesus says it's true, so I know it's true, so let's not talk about it anymore. And then the other thing that I had to do is just walk in the freedom of Christ, celebrate that freedom every day. I was no longer under the law but under grace. I was free to live a life that reflects his love and grace and friends. That is a life of peace, power and passion. It really, really works. Now I want to give you five things, five action steps to help you develop a passion for Jesus. Because when you really develop that passion for Jesus, that love, that trust, those past thoughts and guilt and shame they just go away because your mind and your heart is filled with Jesus.

Ron Meyers:

Number one you have to recognize his love and grace, reflect the depth of Jesus' love for you. You know, if you were the only person on earth, he still would have died for you on that cross. That's how much he loves you, and understanding that can help ignite a deep passion for him. The other thing embrace your identity in Christ. You are a new creation. Your past does not define you anymore. Christ is your identity. You are a new creation in Christ is your identity. You are a new creation in Christ and the more you know him, the more you love him.

Ron Meyers:

Number three renewing your mind with truth. I say meditate on the scriptures that bring life to you. They just do something when you read them. Focus on his love, his grace and his mercy. And when you know the past comes to haunt you, you just begin preaching to yourself.

Ron Meyers:

Number four depend on the Holy Spirit. He is the GPS, he is the guide that will reveal more and more of Jesus to you every day. He's your counselor and he will help you understand the depths of Christ's love for you. Love is the whole thing, and if you have the love and you depend on the Holy Spirit, you're going to start being more loving, more passionate about life. And then, number five, you've got to live from the heart. Recognize that you have a new heart. The old is gone, the new has come in, and allow this new heart to express Jesus through your actions, through your thoughts, through your step, each and every day. And when you fall, we all fall. We make mistakes. You just get up, say Lord, I just did a boneheaded thing. Get me back to thinking about you more and more. And as we focus on the truths that Jesus is your answer, your passion for Jesus will deepen and you will experience the joy and fulfillment that comes from knowing him more intimately. How do you get the hell out of your life?

Speaker 5:

Get on your knees and cry out to the Lord, he hears you, right where you are. How to get the hell out of your life? Well, yeah, replace it with Jesus. We gotta be born again, born of your life. Get on your knees and cry out to the Lord. He hears you, right where you are.

Ron Meyers:

How to get the hell out of your life. Well, yeah, replace it with Jesus.

Speaker 4:

We got to be born again born of the Spirit, and that's by trusting Jesus Christ.

Michelle Fulkerson:

turning from our sins and trusting Jesus, you find out about this man by the name of Jesus, who went to the cross and gave his life so that we will have a life more abundantly. And if you can receive that love, he will love that hell out of you.

Speaker 1:

You trust in him and you let him love the hell right out of you.

Ron Meyers:

How do you get the hell?

Michelle Fulkerson:

out of your life. Oh gosh, jesus, jesus, jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through him.

Speaker 4:

So how do you get the hell out of your life? Record your answer in a voice memo and email it to info at the promoterorg. That's info at the promoterorg.

Speaker 5:

Does God speak to us today? If so, what does he sound like? Thundering roars, crashing waves, a booming megaphone? Maybe, sometimes, but maybe it's not quite as Hollywood, dramatic as all that. Maybe it's a little more simple. John 10, 27 says my sheep hear my voice, I know them and they follow me. In the midst of all the noise and questions, god is speaking and we can hear his voice. We just need to learn to recognize it. So what does he sound like? He sounds like love, like reconciliation, like kindness, wisdom, hope, truth. Do you know those sounds Then? Maybe you hear his voice more often than you think. Maybe you're being led by him more than you realize. Maybe God is speaking to you and you actually are listening. You just didn't know it.

Speaker 4:

Ron will be back in a moment to wrap up today's conversation. Did you know what Ron did before he discovered his destiny? He was a promoter of secular entertainment and, by his own admission, he promoted anything he could make a buck at. At the pinnacle of his success, he walked away from it all so he could follow Jesus and discover his God-given destiny. That was over 20 years ago and he has never looked back. Ron put his story in a novel entitled the Promoter and he wants to give you a copy. This book is a message of hope. To request your free copy, visit our website at thepromoterorg. Now back to Ron.

Ron Meyers:

Well, friends, my time is up and I hope you have enjoyed today's program. And if you are wondering about who this Jesus is, you need to check it out, because Jesus is freedom.
