Get The Hell Out of Your Life
Your thoughts shape your destiny—learn how to take control
Are your thoughts holding you hostage? Discover the transformative power of taking control of your mind in this eye-opening episode. When we understand that our thought life is the beginning of everything else in our lives, we gain the key to lasting change.
World-renowned teacher Jonathan Cahn reveals profound insights about the Hebrew concept of "Rosh" (head) and how it represents the starting point of our destiny. "Change your Rosh," he explains, "and you change everything else." This ancient wisdom aligns perfectly with modern neuroscience showing how our thoughts physically reshape our brains with every choice we make.
The most liberating truth? Your thoughts don't control you—you control your thoughts. While negative patterns may feel automatic, you possess the God-given authority to redirect your mind. Two people can face identical circumstances yet experience entirely different realities based solely on their internal thought life.
Complementing Cahn's teaching, we explore Zig Ziglar's famous concept of "stinking thinking"—those persistent negative thoughts that, like weeds in a garden, choke out our potential and dreams. Learn practical strategies for uprooting these harmful thought patterns and replacing them with life-giving perspectives that empower rather than diminish.
This isn't merely about positive thinking—it's about aligning your mind with truth. Through disciplined thought life and spiritual renewal, you can experience the transformation promised in Romans 12:2: "Be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Your thoughts determine your destiny. Start rewiring your mind today and watch your life transform from the inside out.

It's time now to get the hell out of your life. A weekly broadcast with real people sharing real struggles and offering real hope. Today's show will encourage, inspire and empower you to face life's challenges with a bold confidence and renewed hope. Now let's join our host, ron Myers. The promoter.
Speaker 2:Hello, my friends, it is so good to be with you today. I hope your week has been terrific. If not, this is the place to be today, because I want to focus on having a healthy, productive thought life. I mean, constantly we're being bombarded with information and news. Everything seems like the world's going to hell in a handbasket, but is it? Is it the things that we think that causes us the chaos in our life, and can we control our thoughts? The answer is yes and yes. My goal today is to help you think more clearly, find some peace in your mind and bring clarity to your life. I have a sermon part of a sermon from a world-renowned preacher. I have a sermon part of a sermon from a world-renowned preacher, my friend Jonathan Kahn, who's going to offer some insights on renewing your thought life. I heard this and I said I have to share this with my listeners and then I'll be back and share some tips from that great motivational speaker, zig Ziglar. But first let's take a moment to listen to Jonathan Cahn on renewing our thought life.
Speaker 3:So your thought life in God, if you are a child of God, a minister of God or a servant of God, your thought life, god wants it consistent with the rest of your life. He wants your thoughts consistent with your faith. The problem is when it's not. But he wants it. He's giving you the power to live a thought life that is consistent with everything else in your life, not loose, not all over the place, and by the Spirit you can change your mind. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that, by testing, you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Now, today, we're going to find in the temple of God, from the garments of the high priest, keys that will give you victory in one of the most important and crucial areas of your life. And to set the stage, I'm going to show you some keys in the Hebrew language Everybody touch your head. Simon says touch your head. Shimon says touch your head. All right, this is in Hebrew. It's called Rosh. Say it, your head is your Rosh Rosh. Now, that might sound a little familiar, because in Hebrew you'll hear the word Rosh in different ways Rosh Hashanah, rosh Hashanah, head of the year. Rosh means head. It also means the ruler. The head rules the body. It also means Rosh means the year. Rosh means head. It also means the ruler. The head rules the body. It also means Rosh means the first. It's the head, is the first of your body, it's the top. It also means the beginning. Rosh Hashanah means the head or beginning of the year. It's really not. It's the beginning of the civil year, not the sacred year, but nevertheless, that's what it means. It means beginning your head, your rosh is the beginning. And see, that's where things begin in your life. Your thought. Life is the rosh, is the head, the beginning of everything else in your life. Your actions begin with your Rosh, your head. Your thoughts, your habits begin here, rosh beginning. Your sins begin as well, or don't begin. Your resisting temptation begins. Your career begins here. Your marriage begins here. Your family, your ministry begins here. It begins with your Rosh, your head, your mind, all that you do, your habits, course and lifestyle. Ultimately, your destiny Begins with what is called in the Hebrew your beginning, your head, your rosh.
Speaker 3:In Greek, the word for mind is the word psuche. We get the word psyche from it, which is linked to the soul, but the soul and the mind are also linked together in the Bible the rosh, the head. One of the words linked to rosh in the Bible is the word rishon. It comes from the same thing. It means when you speak of an ancestor, you speak of your ancestors. Well, the mind, in a sense, is what gives birth to the rest of your life, and so it also. Another word that comes from Rosh is the word Reshit. Reshit was like the day of the resurrection last week is called Yom Reshit, or the day of the first fruit. It means the first fruit, and so your thought, life is the first fruits of the rest of your life. That's where it comes from and from everything that goes forth.
Speaker 3:Now there are two parts of your life in another sense that which takes place outside of you, your situation, your world and that which takes place within you, and the two are related, but the two may also be very different. Example two people can be in the same exact circumstance and yet totally live totally different lives because of what's going on inside, not outside. For instance, one person could be in prison and is miserable, the other's in prison and they're blessed, like Paul. What's the difference. It's what's inside that determines everything else. Two people can be living in a mansion. One is happy, one is miserable. It's what's inside, it's what's going in.
Speaker 3:The Bible speaks, says the despondent. For the despondent, every day brings trouble. For the cheerful heart, life is like a continual feast. You can be the most blessed person on the outside, but if inside you have a spirit of despondency or anger or ungratefulness or jealousy or complaint or bitterness, your life is going to be all that miserable, bitter, and vice versa. You can be the poorest person, but if your heart is blessed, filled with gratitude, thanksgiving, praise, your life is going to be one of blessing and riches and fullness.
Speaker 3:We think that the outside affects the inside. There's some truth to that, of course, because if this is happening, I'm sad, or because it's happening, I'm happy, or I'll say how's it going, how's your day going, and we'll talk about not inside, we'll talk usually about the outside. But more important in the Lord is the other flow. What goes on the inside affects the outside, the rest of your life. What goes on in your thought life determines the rest of your life.
Speaker 3:If you're divided in your thought life, your life is going to be divided. If you're scattered in your thought life, your life is going to be divided. If you're scattered in your thought life, you're all over the place. Your life is going to be scattered. If you're always thinking the worst in your mind, your life is going to be the worst. It's the Rosh, the beginning, the Rosh, the beginning. But if you change the beginning, the Rosh, you change everything else. But if you change the beginning, the Rosh, you change everything else. Change your Rosh, your mind, and you change everything in your life. But can you do that? Your thought life? We're going to talk about the keys in the Bible.
Speaker 3:How do you view it? First of all, we often look at our thought life as something that's kind of out of control. You know, thoughts come in. We don't want them Ungodly thoughts, we don't want them Bitter thoughts, we don't want them More like a kind of a stormy sea. Well, the first idea we have that trips us up is that we don't really have control to really change our mind, our thinking. We have to think this way, because this is the way I think and this is the way. This is what I experience. I don't want to think it, but I do. It's kind of like when you're on the internet and there's a pop-up and it's like their thoughts are just kind of pop up. And this is the way I tend to think anyway. I tend to be critical, or I tend to be to be pessimistic, anxious thoughts, jealous thoughts, lustful thoughts, worried thoughts, fearful thoughts. Do I have a choice?
Speaker 3:Well, your thought life is what you're living in every day. Do you have power to change it? You may not think you do, but the answer in the Bible is not. That's not true at all. That's not biblical. The Bible says very clearly you have power over your mind and over your thought life.
Speaker 3:Listen to what it says Now. It says your mind and over your thought life. Listen to what it says Now. It says love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, soul, mind, mind. Now you think okay, I've heard that, you know okay, but there's something radical. It says love God with your mind. Now, if somebody says cook a meal in your oven, it's not the oven that's controlling you. You are controlling the oven to cook the meal. So if it says love God with your mind, it means you have power over your mind. Your mind doesn't control you. You control your mind, your heart. The mind is a vessel that you are to use for God. One of the keys of gaining control of your thought life is taking responsibility for your thought life.
Speaker 3:Now you might be saying but thoughts just come up. Thoughts just come up. I don't know, you know well. Well, think about something. Some of you have been tapping. Some of you are tapping your hand right now, like this one right here tapping your hand. Some of you are. Are you thinking about that? No, unless except now you are. Or some of you are tapping your feet or moving right there. Are you thinking about your foot? No, you're not. It's just happening. But you can stomp it. You can stomp that, no-transcript. Raise your hand. How many of you have a tendency to tap your fingers? Raise your hand. How many of you have a tendency to raise your hands? All of you are blinking right now. Are you thinking about it? No, now, you're not. You are now, but you weren't then. But you have control. You still have control. You can stop for a time. You have control.
Speaker 3:So, with your thoughts, it's not really out of your control, it out of your control. It's that. It's a habit. And when we do things by habit, we don't think we have control over it, but it's still the result of other things that we did have control over. If you're going to have victory in your thought life, you have to take responsibility for it, that you do have a choice before God.
Speaker 3:Now sometimes people say, well, you made me feel this, you made me feel this, you made me feel this. Well, we understand, people say things and it triggers you, but ultimately you can't just keep saying that people are making you feel this or making you think this. Otherwise you're saying you have no control and you're a victim of circumstance. But in God you're not a victim, you're a victor. Next thing, next important truth here the mind is not fixed. The mind is not fixed. The mind is changing. In fact, it changes more than any other part of the body. It actually changes every day.
Speaker 3:Every time you think a thought, you're affecting your mind. Every time you think a thought, you're literally changing. When you think a thought, I mean physically you're sending an electrical impulse along a certain line, a connection there, and every time you do it you're strengthening it. Every time you don't do it, you're weakening it. So if you want to change, you have to choose to go against an old course. Now the thing is, the more that something harder for you to think in a new way, the more that when you overcome it's going to be a greater change in your life, the more you resist the temptation. Let's say you resist the temptation. It's hard to do it once, but the first time you do it it makes it a little bit easier to do it the second time, and the second time more. Third time, fourth, same thing goes the other way. You give in to a sin First time. You may be thinking first time you ever did so. Well, you're thinking, you're back and forth, but when you then give in, it gets easier to go in to do it again.
Speaker 3:We tend you know it says, it says in philippians whatever is lovely and good and excellent. Let your mind dwell on these things and god's peace will guard your heart and mind. We tend to think that our thoughts come from our mind, and there is a truth to that. But the greater truth here is that your mind is determined by your thoughts as well. In other words, the more you choose, it'll actually affect your mind and it will affect your course of your mind and your habits and your entire attitude by what you choose.
Speaker 3:Now we need some real keys that can revolutionize your thought life, from the high priest, the chief minister of Israel. He's the example of someone who's dedicated to God, living for God, supposed to doing his will. He had the garments. He had to have these special high priestly garments, as you know the breastplate and all those things. But there was one particular one Exodus 39, 30, you can just listen and they made the plate of the holy crown of pure gold. The high priest first on him, or the crowning him, is literally a crown. The high priest first on him, or the crowning him, is literally a crown. The high priest wears a golden crown around his head, his rosh. The first thing it says is that the crown of gold. It's consistent with the rest of his garments. It's also consistent with a holy place. He's ministering in a place of gold garments. It's also consistent with a holy place. He's ministering in a place of gold.
Speaker 3:So your thought life in God, if you are a child of God, a minister of God or a servant of God, your thought life, god wants it consistent with the rest of your life. He wants your thoughts consistent with your faith. The problem is when it's not. But he wants it. He's giving you the power to live a thought life that is consistent with everything else in your life, not loose, not all over the place and by the Spirit you can change your mind. Now one of the words in Greek I gave you a word in Hebrew, a word in Greek is the word metanoia. Try it, very different from Hebrew. You know metanoia.
Speaker 3:Metanoia is the word used for repentance in the New Testament. You know what it means. Metanoia change your mind. So the Bible says what is repentance when you change your mind. When we say change your mind, we're saying like I'm changing my opinion, but literally it can actually change your mind. Repentance is to have a different mind. Ephesians 4 says. 23 says be renewed in the spirit of your mind. Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Notice something you can be transformed by starting with what? Your mind. If your mind is renewed, your life is transformed. We're told to have the mind of Messiah.
Speaker 3:Now how do you do it? Well, when you have the spirit of Messiah and you're living in the spirit of Messiah, it's going to affect your mind, to ultimately lead you to have the mind of Messiah, and that means you start actually thinking the thoughts of Messiah. You know we have the bracelets they have. What would Jesus do? How about what would Jesus think? Because when it starts with him thinking you're going to do what Jesus would do. How about what would Jesus think? Because when it starts with him thinking you're going to do what Jesus would do. If you think what Jesus thinks, you might have a very messy thought life, might be all over the place, but the good news is, the more you choose to focus your thoughts on the Word of God, on the love of God, on the reality of God's goodness, and the more you're led by the Spirit, the more it's going to become your thought life.
Speaker 3:You're called the disciple. Well, disciple is the word discipline in it. Now, the thing is that we are to not only be—discipline means we are to live a disciplined life. Disciplined thought life is powerful, is focused. Paul had a. Not that he was perfect, but he had a disciplined thought life. He was focused. So scripture says God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love and of a sound mind, which also is translated as self-control. A sound mind, that means taking charge. What does it say? Take every thought captive. And also it says listen to what Peter said.
Speaker 3:Peter said gird up the loins of your minds. Now that's a strange thing. What is girding up? What is girding up? Girding up is back then they didn't wear clothes like we do. They wore robes or loose clothes. But if you're running or you're going to do some work, you've got to gird it up, you've got to tie it around you. That's what girding up is. You tie it up so you can run, so the robe won't trip you up. Well, if you have a messy, you know, out of control, not disciplined thought life, it's going to trip you up. It's like loose.
Speaker 3:So Peter is saying gird up your mind, gird up your thoughts, take charge, reign it in. You're in charge of them, it's not in charge of you. The mind is to be used of God, it's to be used for holy things, as in the crown of the high priest. You have power. Notice that command. Love the Lord with all your mind, not some of your mind. That means you've got control over all your mind. The enemy might throw things in and the world throw things in, but you have the power to cast that down.
Speaker 2:When I return, no more stinking thinking.
Speaker 1:You're listening to Get the Hell Out of your Life with your host, ron Myers. Real stories, real struggles and real hope.
Speaker 5:In a world filled with uncertainty, it's easy to lose sight of our purpose and destiny. But when we anchor our hearts in a relationship with Jesus, everything changes. My name is Mark and this is the Journey. Jesus becomes our true source of hope, our guide towards the purpose in our life and the one who shapes our destiny. Hebrews 6, verse 19 says we have this hope, jesus as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. You know the storms of life will come, but Jesus is our unshakable anchor. When we place our trust in Him we are securely tethered to His love, his wisdom and His perfect plan. Proverbs 16, verse 4 reminds us the Lord works out everything to its proper end. This means your life has true meaning. God has a purpose for you, a reason. You are here today, and through a relationship with Jesus that purpose begins to unfold. So when you feel lost or uncertain, echo the words of David in Psalm 39. My hope is in you, o Lord. In Jesus you are not forgotten. You are called, loved and destined for a life that glorifies Him.
Speaker 6:Here's a refreshing word just for you today. It comes from the book of Hebrews, chapter 13, verse 8. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Be refreshed today.
Speaker 4:You're tired of how you're living. We'll change it. You don't like where you're headed? Rearrange it. You're sick of being let down.
Speaker 1:You want to turn your life around. If you want to start living right, get the hell out of your life.
Speaker 2:Get the hell out of your life. Get the hell out of your life, as we just heard from Jonathan Cahn, that if we have scattered ideas and scattered thought life, it just brings chaos in our life. So I want to take a moment to chat about something that I know resonates with so many of us what Zig Ziglar famously called stinking thinking. You know those negative thoughts that creep into our minds and weigh us down. Life can throw a lot at us, and it's easy to fall into a trap of self doubt, pessimism and that nagging inner critic that tells us hey, we're not enough. Zig used to say that our thoughts are like a garden If we don't tend to it, weeds of negativity will take over, choking out the beautiful flowers that represent our dreams and potential. Think about it. How many times have you found yourself caught in a cycle of negative thinking? Maybe you've faced setbacks at work. Struggles in relationships are just an overwhelming sense of uncertainty. It's in these moments that stinking thinking can really take root. But here's the truth you and I have the power to change our thoughts. Zig always encouraged us to replace those negative thoughts with positive affirmations. To replace those negative thoughts with positive affirmations. It's about shifting our mindset. Instead of saying I can't do this, try saying I'm capable and I can learn. This small shift can change perspective and open up a world of possibilities.
Speaker 2:I want to encourage you to be mindful of your internal dialogue and when you catch yourself falling into that stinking thinking trap, pause for a moment. Acknowledge those thoughts, but don't let them define you. Ask yourself what's a more positive way to look at this situation, or what would Jesus think? You might be surprised at how quickly your mindset can shift. Remember we are all works in progress. Zig Ziglar taught us that success is not just about what we achieve. It's about who we become in the process. So let's commit to nurturing our minds, planting seeds of positivity, uprooting that stinking thinking, and meditate. Preach to ourselves those positive affirmations. Together, you and I well, we can create a life filled with hope, joy and endless possibilities. You've got this, and if you ever find yourself struggling, just remember you are not alone. We're all on this journey together, working to cultivate a mindset that empowers us to reach our fullest potential. Let's keep encouraging each other to think positively and embrace the beautiful journey ahead.
Speaker 7:Some of us are building highways, not with our hands, but with our hearts. We're on a journey that doesn't have an end. It's a rough road, but we know that someday it will be worth every rugged mile. Why don't you join us? We're the Christians. Now, I know you've heard a lot of weird things about us most of it not true. We don't really care. We just know that we're going to live forever and we can have an abundant life along the way.
Speaker 7:Jesus is our guide on this journey called life, and he said that he came to give us life that goes on forever and an abundant life. Hey, it's a toll free highway. Jesus already paved the way. All we have to do is come on board. You don't have to be religious, you don't have to be perfect. You just have to accept the fact that Jesus already bridged the way to heaven. Then you have to put him behind the wheel, but when you finally let go and let Jesus take over, it's amazing how you find the journey a lot more peaceful, because life without Jesus is kind of like going four-wheeling on a skateboard. Take some time to learn about Jesus. You'll find out how he can build an eternal highway in your heart.
