Jerusalem And The End Time Prophecy

One city keeps pulling the world’s attention like a magnet, and the Bible says that isn’t an accident. We walk through why Jerusalem is described as God’s chosen city, why Zion shows up across Scripture so often, and why end times prophecy repeatedly returns to the same geographic ground. If you’ve ever wondered why headlines feel permanently stuck on Jerusalem, this is a guided tour through the biblical framework behind that obsession.
We connect Luke 21’s warning about Jerusalem being “trampled” to real history, including the destruction of 70 AD, the long centuries of foreign rule, and the shock of modern restoration. From there, we pivot into Daniel 9 and the prophetic “missing seven” years, explaining why many teachers link that passage to the tribulation, the Antichrist, and a future disruption of temple sacrifice. That leads straight to the Temple Mount, where spiritual claims, political sovereignty, and prophetic expectations collide in a way few other places on earth can match.
Then we open Zechariah 12 and 14, where Jerusalem becomes a “cup of trembling” for the nations and the stage for a final confrontation, followed by God’s intervention. We also spend time on Zechariah 12:10’s haunting line about looking on the one “pierced,” and how that connects to repentance, Messianic hope, and Romans 11’s “fullness of the Gentiles.” If you want a clearer map of biblical prophecy, Jerusalem, Israel, and the end of the age, press play and follow the thread all the way to the Mount of Olives.

Messiah And Israel’s Rescue
Jonathan CahnThe Jewish people they pray for Messiah to come. The Messiah is only gonna come to save his people. So he will come in the day when Israel needs to be saved. And they will fall. This is Messiah speaking. What's gonna happen? They will fall by the edge of the sword and will be led captive into all the nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles or nations until the time of the Gentiles are fulfilled. 58 years ago today. Events in the Middle East were setting the world on fire, which has already happened in every one of our lifetimes that has happened, where the whole world was focusing on what's happening in the Middle East, particularly leading to Israel. And it would all lead to the fulfillment of biblical prophecy, the restoration of Jerusalem. Without that, the end cannot come. The end times cannot be fulfilled. Prophecy, Messiah cannot come. Jerusalem, the holy city. Tonight I want to open up the realm of Jerusalem of end time prophecy. Jerusalem and linking to the book of Revelation and the end of the age. Of Jerusalem, it is written in Psalm 87: the Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob. That's Jerusalem. Psalm 132, it says, For the Lord has chosen Zion. Zion is Jerusalem. It became the name of the whole land, but it's first Jerusalem, Mount Zion. Zion, he chose it, he desired it for his dwelling place. This is my resting place forever. Here I will dwell, for I have desired it. So it was mentioned early on in the Bible by name when he said to Moses, the place where I will put my name, that's Jerusalem. It is the holy city, the place of God's dwelling, called the Beit Mikdash or the Holy House, the temple. Jerusalem, if you're born again, you were born again wherever you received the Lord, but you're also born again in Jerusalem because that's where you were saved. You were saved there, and then when you received it, resurrection, Jerusalem. Holy Spirit, Pentecost, Jerusalem. Jerusalem is mentioned more than any other city in scripture over 800 times in the Bible. In the New Testament, 142 times. In the Hebrew scriptures, for some reason, 666, whatever that is. Half of the books of the New Testament contain Jerusalem in it. Two-thirds of the Hebrew scriptures contain Jerusalem, Zion. It's called the city of God. The city they're called Salem, Shalem. It's called Ariel or the Lion. It's about lions. What about prophecy? Jerusalem is the physical geographical key to end time prophecy. And that's what we're going to open up tonight. Luke 21, 24, he said, they will fall by the edge of the sword. And the Lord is talking about the Jewish people. They'll be led captive into all the nations. And Jerusalem, when they're captive in the nations, Jerusalem will be trampled down underfoot until the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled. All right, what does that mean? What is the time of the Gentiles? It's undoubtedly speaking of the days or the ages when the Gentile world powers rule the world, which is basically much or pretty much all of history so far. So here is the age of the Gentiles, and it's an amazing thing because it's saying that the age of the Gentiles or the nations is all linked to a single city, Jerusalem. On Jerusalem hangs the entire age, the age of the Gentiles and the age of the kingdom. Now Messiah is giving a prophecy of the destruction of Jerusalem and the leading captive of the Jewish people into all nations. That happened dramatically in 70 AD. When the armies of Rome came in and destroyed Jerusalem and Israel and took the Jewish people captive into the nations, beginning the most massive dispersion of the Jewish people. They had already been dispersed, but this was the most massive up to this day. That's why Jewish people are in America, because of what happened. Rome came in and trampled Jerusalem underfoot. And as far as the Jewish people were concerned, their holy city, Jerusalem, was trampled underfoot by one power of the nations after the next, after the next, after the next, for nearly 2,000 years. First the Romans, then the Eastern Romans called Byzantines, then the Muslim Arabs, then the Muslim Turks, until the First World War, when the British entered the land under General Alan B. A Christian, and came into the land and the Turks fled. And so Jerusalem was still trampled down by the nations up until what happened 58 years ago. June 7th, 1967. Messiah himself prophesied, Jerusalem was set free, given to Israel, no longer trampled underfoot. Now there are those who see that as the ending of the times of the Gentiles. Jerusalem will be trampled down until that time is over. Well, it can't ultimately be so, since according to end time prophecy, Jerusalem is going to be trampled down at least one more time, as by the Antichrist. Jerusalem is the capital, it's the holy city. Israel is more connected to that city than any nation is connected to any city. And yet the world refuses, it's the only capital the world refuses to recognize. They are prophesied to come back to Zion. Zion, again, land of Israel, but also is first Jerusalem. In the prophecies of Messiah himself concerning the end of the age, he speaks of Jewish disciples being in Jerusalem. He gives them advice. When you hear this, when you see this, flee here, pray it's not on the Sabbath. The Jewish people, according to Bible prophecy, have to be in Jerusalem before Messiah can come or come again. So that happened June 7th. So this is talking about redemption. He's going to come to die for sins in Jerusalem. The focus on Jerusalem, but he's going to die for our sins there, make an end of sin. Then it talks about prophecy, all prophecy to be fulfilled. Focus on Jerusalem. Salvation came from Jerusalem. It will go back to Jerusalem. Again, the death, the resurrection, the Holy Spirit, all came from Jerusalem to your life. You are linked to Jerusalem. And that brings us to the next verse. Verse 27, Daniel. He shall confirm the covenant with many for one seven, one week, one seven. In the midst of that seven, seven years, he will cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. And for the overspreading of abominations, he shall make it desolate until the consummation that determines, he shall pour out on desolation. So it's talking about he is the one who was just mentioned before. It said, the people of the prince who will come will destroy the city. Well, who destroyed the city? The Romans. So the people of the prince who will come, the prince who will come will in some way be Roman. It's talking about the Antichrist. First clear mention of the Antichrist. It says, He will make now a covenant with Israel in the midst of that seven, that last missing seven or week of Daniel. That's seven years. That is therefore the tribulation. That's one that you filled up to Jesus. Then there's one missing week. That's the tribulation. That's the book of Revelation. And then it says, in the midst of that seven, divide seven by half, and you get three and a half years. That goes throughout the book of Revelation. The Antichrist will stop the sacrifice of the temple. That means there will be a temple, and he will desecrate it. He will, it says abomination, desolation. The whole prophecy of the Antichrist and revelation is centered on Jerusalem. What he's going to do in Jerusalem, and you have to have Jewish people there, or this doesn't work. There's going to be a temple in Jerusalem. It's yet to come. The holy city will be trampled down. Jerusalem, holy city. Again, that goes with what Messiah said. It will be trampled down until the end. 42 months, three and a half years. It says, During that time period, you will have two witnesses. Where? In Jerusalem. And they will prophesy until the end. And it says their bodies will be killed by the Antichrist. Their bodies will lie in the great city. Which one? That is, it says where the Lord was crucified. Jerusalem. Jerusalem is at the center of end time prophecy. And in order again for this to happen, remember what Messiah said? When you see what Daniel spoke about, the abomination, desolation, talking about the desolation of the temple. Desecration. Where's the temple? Jerusalem. Paul said the man of sin will be revealed. And what will he do? It says he will declare himself God in the temple or holy place of God. Jerusalem. You gotta have Jerusalem. And in Jerusalem, you gotta have a temple. You can't, you're not gonna have a temple unless you have Jewish people who are back in Jerusalem to rebuild the temple. So all of end time prophecy is hanging on Jerusalem and the Jewish people returning there again, June 7th, this weekend, back. The Antichrist is linked to that. The persecution, the abomination, the two witnesses, the tribulation, linked to that date. And that brings us to the center of the battle, the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Because the Temple Mount is central in end time prophecy. The enemy wars over that mount. Because he knows that all the purposes are going to focus on that mount. The temple, Messiah is going to reign from there. He's finished when that happens. That's why, even to this day, there's a war over that Temple Mount. That's why the Temple Mount right now is in the hands of Israel's enemies, even though Israel has sovereignty, they still allowed it. And that's why Jewish people are not allowed to this day to observe anything of God on that mount. That's where all everything was to be observed. They're not allowed to. That's why even the rumor that Jewish people may go up there to pray or observe something of God can send the whole region, the land, and the world into an uproar, even a world war. Why? Because the enemy is going to go crazy to stop anything happening on that mount that has to do with God, because that's his end. Next key of end time prophecy with Jerusalem. If you have your Bible, Zechariah 12. Very important. Verse 1: the burden of the Lord, the word of the Lord for Israel, thus says the Lord, who stretches out the heavens and lays the foundation of the earth, forms the spirit of man inside of him. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling to all the nations round about. And when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem, I will make it a cup of trembling. In that day I will make Jerusalem an immovable stone, a burdensome stone for all the nations, and all who try to move it, all who burden themselves with it, will be cut, will be injured, they will injure themselves. Even though all the nations of the earth will be gathered together against it. What is it saying? In the last days, all the nations, well, the Bible says, all the nations will be focused on Jerusalem. Israel, but Jerusalem. The nations will try to move Jerusalem. And those who do so try will be injured by it. Again, Jerusalem, center of end time prophecy. The whole world is going to focus on it. But the Bible says in the last days, the whole world's going to be focused on Jerusalem. And the thing is, as long as the Jewish people weren't there, the world pretty much didn't care about it for most of the time. As soon as the Jewish people started coming back to it, the world all of a sudden started going crazy about Jerusalem. Why? Because it's the enemy behind it. The enemy knows. The enemy knows that when the Jewish people return to Jerusalem, it means somebody else is also going to return to Jerusalem. That is why. How do you move a city? You can't move a city. What it means is you change the borders, you change the sovereignty. We say this is not yours anymore. And that's exactly what this present world is trying to do. This is total the world falling in line with biblical prophecy. Less than a year ago, the United Nations, speaking of the nations, the Bible speaks about it, passed a resolution declaring that much of the land that Israel rests on is illegal and specifically cited Jerusalem. So the United Nations says Israel has no right to Jerusalem. It's illegal. And they passed this resolution declaring Jerusalem illegal and other places, but the vote was something like 124 nations for it. And how many said no? 14. 124 verses 14. The Bible says the nations of the world. The UN then was giving Israel 12 months to get out of Jerusalem. The Bible says the nations rage and the Lord laughs. The UN. It's amazing because the Bible says those nations that try to move Jerusalem are going to injure themselves. The UN in the last period of time has issued more resolutions condemning little tiny Israel more than any other nation in the world. It has passed more resolutions condemning Israel than all the nations on planet earth combined, times two. It makes no sense. Except end time prophecy says it's going to happen. And because there's a spiritual war there, and that is what began. But the prophecy goes further than that. It's not only that the nations of the world are going to seek to move Jerusalem, but they're going to come against Jerusalem, Israel, they'll converge to destroy it. The whole world against Israel, the whole world against Jerusalem. Why? Because Jerusalem is the city of God. It doesn't make any sense any other way. And in America, for the first time across our college campuses, it was the young who were leading this, which says that if they don't get saved or there's not revival, that's the future. Even of America, it says the nations will come against Israel. But more than that will happen. Because the Jewish people, they pray for Messiah to come. But Messiah is only going to come to save his people. So he will come in the day when Israel needs to be saved and the world needs to be saved. He came the first time to save us from sin. That could be any time. But he's coming the second time to save from destruction. And so he will come in that day, but they're just going to be surprised who it turns out to be. It's going to be a big surprise when they realize it's Jesus is their long-awaited Jewish Messiah. Hey, if you're enjoying this video, hit like and share it with others. Little things like hitting like and sharing it will help us reach more people for the Lord. Now back to the message. Which brings us to the next key of the prophecy, Zechariah 12, 10. And I will pour out, Lord speaking, I will pour out the house of David and the those who indwell Jerusalem the spirit of grace and supplication, so that they will look upon me, whom they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as for an only son. They will weep bitterly over him like the bitter weeping of a firstborn. They, what's that? I will pour out my spirit on them in Jerusalem and the house of David, so that they will look upon me whom they have pierced. Wow. The people of Israel are gonna turn to their Messiah when they realize who their Messiah is. They will look upon me whom they have pierced. Who is the one talking? The Lord is talking, he's already identified. The Lord, Yahweh, the I am is talking. And he says, Amazing, I have been pierced by them. Amazing. The Lord in Hebrew, Yahweh, pierced, the eternal God, creator, pierced. They're mourning for the one they pierced. What does that mean? If you mourn for the one you pierced, it means a total change of heart. So now the Jewish people, the one that they saw as an enemy, they're gonna embrace as a loved one, their family. Jesus of to them, of the Gentiles, is the God where they were persecuted in his name, but they're gonna realize it's Yeshua, their own Messiah, their brother, their redeemer that they've been waiting for. From the books of Moses onward, it says that in the last days, the Jewish people are gonna return to the Lord, turn to the Lord, but nothing can be so dramatic as this picture when they're gonna actually mourn for the one that they pierced. Total turning, total revolutionary turning. The modern messianic revival of Jewish people coming to the Lord was born out of the moving of the spirit and the gospel in the Jesus movement, particularly on the West Coast. The Jesus movement was born out of what was called the summer of love. And many people they started getting saved who came there. Much of that was centered on San Francisco. You know, the Jews for Jesus was born in San Francisco around that time. It's striking because the Bible says the Jewish people will be scattered to the ends of the earth and then they will return to the Lord. Interesting because where's San Francisco, California? That from Jerusalem, it's the end of the earth. It's you keep going, it's the farthest part you can go, west. If you're scattered west, the other side goes to Russia. So here from the ends of the earth, they began. This movement began. Jewish people, the modern messianic revival was born out of the Jesus movement. When was the Jesus movement born? In the late 1960s. When more specifically? The year 1967. Same year that Jerusalem was restored. So as the Jewish people returned to Jerusalem, it set in motion the return of the Jewish people to Messiah. When exactly did the Jesus movement begin? In June 1967, the same month. First came the six-day war at the beginning of the month, then came the summer of love, which gave birth to the Jesus movement. The very same year and month. So the return of the Jewish people is central in the Bible end time prophecy. And that may open up another realm of the times of the Gentiles. It's written in Romans 11, Paul said, I don't want you to be unaware of this, brothers and sisters. I don't want you to be uninformed about this mystery. So you don't become conceited in your own estimation. But a partial hardening has come over Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved as it is written. The Redeemer will come. Beginning of the age, you had Jewish believers, Jewish apostles, Jewish disciples of the church leading their. Where were they? Jerusalem. That's where it all started. That's where it's all going to end. The Jewish believers were in Jerusalem, but when Jerusalem was destroyed, the Jewish people were scattered, and the Jewish believers started disappearing from the church. So now you have Jerusalem coming back, and you have Jewish people reappearing in the church, and Jew and Gentile together as one in the church. And the church coming back to its roots at the same moment. See if everything else is returning, then there's got to be another return. Zechariah 12, continuing, says, In that day, the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Verse 9, it will come to pass in that day, I will seek to destroy the nations that come against Jerusalem. The final war, final showdown is going to center where? On Jerusalem in the end. All nations, that's when God shows up. When Hitler rose up, God used America and the Allies to defeat him. But on the end, at the end, there's not going to be any nation to defend Israel. That's when God will show up. That's when he'll come on the stage. When the author comes on the stage, here you know the play is over. He's going to come on the stage, he will fight for his people. It says in Zechariah 14, now, verse 2, I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle. All nations. It doesn't even say against Israel. It says Jerusalem, and the city will be taken. Women ravished, half the city go into captivity, and the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city. But then it says, Then the Lord shall go forth and fight against those nations as when he fought on the day of battle. And then it says this. Listen, next verse. And his feet will stand on that day on the Mount of Olives. The Mount of Olives will split in half, and his feet will stand, whose feet? It says, the Lord's feet will stand on the Mount of Olives. That's kind of reminiscent of something. How did Messiah end his time on earth, his mission? Acts 1, when they came together, they asked us, Lord, is it at this time you're going to restore the kingdom to Israel? He didn't say, No, no, God's finished with Israel. It's not replacement theology, everybody. No, he said it's not for you to know when. And he spoke and he said, But you Go forth by the Spirit and you spread the gospel to the end. And when he spoke these things, while they were looking at him, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight. And they were staring into heaven, as we would. Staring into the sky. Two men were standing by, had white garments on. They said, Men of Galilee, why are you gazing? Why do you stand gazing up into the sky? This same Yeshua, Jesus, who was taken from you into heaven, he's coming back the same way. And then he will come, then he will reign from where? From Yerushalayahim. That is, he is the king of Jerusalem, and he's your king. Whatever happens to Jerusalem goes out to the whole earth. Whatever happens to Israel affects the whole world. When they find peace with Messiah, the whole world will find peace with Messiah. That's when the times of the nations or the Gentile kingdoms will come to an end, when Messiah will reign. Now listen from what we have seen tonight now. Listen to what Daniel saw. Listen to it. One like the Son of Man coming on the clouds and coming where? To the Mount of Olives, and there he was given dominion forever. Who would do that? Only the Lord could have dominion forever. Only the Lord could have a kingdom that is forever. But it says this is one like the Son of Man, Messiah, and that kingdom will rule the earth from Jerusalem. Jerusalem. That is why the world is raging against the coming back of Jerusalem. Because the enemy knows what's coming. The enemy knows that this is the beginning of the kingdom. And the old doesn't want the new. The kingdom of darkness brought to the end. That'll bring this home. If we had heard all these things years ago, by the laws of history, Jerusalem should be gone, with the city of Troy and Thebes and Nineveh and Babylon should be dust, but God said it. And that's why Jerusalem is back in the modern world. That's why it's actually a city that all the nations of the earth have to deal with. Not only that, but the focus of the world is on it, as God said it would be. The Jewish people are back. Jewish believers are there worshiping God, worshiping Messiah. You can go there today and see the words of the prophets alive. It's a miracle. It's a double miracle that you got Israel and Jerusalem. And it happened at a time when young people were heading to San Francisco for the summer of love. There was a war raging in Vietnam. Johnson was president. People were protesting. The Beatles were coming out with Sergeant Pepper, I believe that same month. With all that going on, God, the God of the Bible, was fulfilling his ancient scripture in the midst of the world because nothing stops the purposes of God. For Messiah to come again.
