AnnouncerIt's time now to get the hell out of your life. A weekly broadcast with real people, sharing real struggles, and offering real hope. Today's show will encourage, inspire, and empower you to face life's challenges with a full confidence and renewed hope. Now let's join our host, Ron Myers, the promoter.
Ron MeyersHello, my friends. It is so good to be with you today. Every week before I turn on this microphone, I ask the Lord one simple question. Jesus, what do your people need to hear today? Not what will get the most downloads, or not what people want to hear, but what they need to hear. And so, friend, as I prayed about today's episode, I kept hearing these words in my heart. Stop and smell the roses. Now, I know what some of you are thinking, Ron, are we going to talk about flowers for the next 25 minutes? No, we're going to talk about life. Because I want to ask you a question that I hope stays with you long after this show is over. Are you really living? Or are you just getting through another day? Think about that for a moment. How many mornings do we jump out of bed, grab a cup of coffee, rush off to work, answer emails, pay bills, watch the news, scroll through our phones, fall into bed exhausted, only to wake up the next morning and do it all over again. Weeks become months, months become years, and before we know it, we're wondering where did the time go? I've spoken to thousands of people over the years, and there's one question I almost always ask. I say, Imagine you go to the doctor for a routine visit. He walks back into the room, sits down beside you, and quietly says, I am so sorry, but you only have a few months to live. How would your life change? Now every single time the answers are almost identical. I'd spend more time with my family. I'd stop worrying about the things that don't matter. I'd forgive people. I'd tell my children I love them more often, I'd laugh more, I'd finally take that trip, I'd spend more time with Jesus. Then I smile and I ask one more question. If you already know what matters, why are you waiting? Why do we wait for bad news before we start living? Why do we wait for a tragedy before we appreciate today? Why do we wait until someone is gone before we tell them how much they meant to us? My friends, tomorrow has never been promised. But today, today is sitting right in front of you. And once today is gone, you'll never get it
Are You Really Living Today
Ron Meyersback. Those of you who have listened to this podcast for a while know something about me. I am a people watcher. I absolutely love watching people. Put me in an airport, coffee shop, a restaurant, even a grocery store, and I am perfectly content. I watch the businessman rushing through the terminal. I watch the young mom trying to keep up with her little ones. I watch the elderly couple still holding hands after all these years. I watch teenagers laughing. I watch grandparents smiling at babies they've never met. And I find myself wondering, what's their story? What burden are they carrying? What prayer have they been praying? What miracle are they hoping for? Because every face has a story. Every person matters, every life has value. But here's something else I've noticed. Most people aren't really seeing the world around them. They're looking down, they're looking at a phone, looking at their schedule, looking at everything they have to do next. Always rushing, always hurrying, always trying to get somewhere else. And in the process, they completely miss where they already are.
Teaching A Child To Notice
Ron MeyersYou know, my granddaughter is only four years old, little Riley. She's four. She's at that beautiful age where she's learning how to see the world. She's learning to think, she's learning what to believe, she's learning what really matters. And it dawned on me one day, has her gramps. I have the incredible privilege and responsibility of helping shape the way she sees life. So I've started teaching her a little phrase, stop and smell the roses. Now because she's four, she thinks gramps is talking about flowers. And sometimes I am. But what I am really trying to teach her is something much bigger. I'm trying to teach her optimism. I'm trying to teach her gratitude. I'm trying to teach her to notice God's fingerprints all around her, to notice people, to notice beauty, to notice opportunities, to slow down enough to enjoy the life God has given her. Because one day she'll be older, she'll have responsibilities, deadlines, bills, heartaches, disappointments. And my prayer is that somewhere deep in her heart, she'll hear her gramps saying, stop and smell the roses. Friend, don't rush through life so fast that you miss the God who gave it to you. You know, every parent, every grandparent, every teacher, every coach, every adult is speaking into the life of a child. The question isn't whether we're influencing them. The question is, what are we teaching them? Are we teaching them to chase success or to chase Jesus? Are we teaching them to worry or to trust? Are we teaching them to complain or to be grateful? Are we speaking fear into their future? Or are we speaking destiny and purpose into their lives? I want my granddaughter to grow up knowing that God has an incredible plan for her life. Every sunrise is a gift, every person has value, every day has purpose, and if she will keep her eyes open, she'll discover that God is constantly placing beautiful opportunities right in front of her.
ICU Wake Up Call
Ron MeyersA few months ago, I found myself lying in an ICU bed after what was supposed to be a routine procedure. When something like that happens, your perspective changes. You don't think about a to-do list, you don't think about how many emails you answered, you think about the people you love. You think about the conversations you still want to have. You think about whether you've really lived the days God has already given you. That experience didn't make me afraid, it made me grateful. Grateful for another sunrise, grateful for another conversation, grateful for another chance to tell someone Jesus loves you. And maybe that's why today's message has been burning in my heart. Because I don't want you or me to wait for bad news before we start living the good life Jesus has already made possible. And here's what I believe may be the biggest reason so many people rush through life. They're carrying a burden that Jesus never asked them to carry. And when we come back, I want to share the truth that completely changed my life. The truth that made me fall in love with Jesus, the truth that set me free, God's amazing grace.

The Burden Jesus Never Gave
Ron MeyersBefore the break, I said something that may have caught your attention. I said, I think the biggest reason so many people rush through life is because they're carrying a burden Jesus never asks them to carry. I've been thinking about that for years. And you know, as I watch people, and yes, I'm still a people watcher, I don't just see tired faces. I see people carrying invisible backpacks. Some are filled with guilt, some with shame, some with regret, some with fear, some with the feeling that they're just not enough. And maybe that's you today. Maybe you've been trying your very best to be a good Christian. You've tried harder, you've prayed longer, read another book, volunteered more, promised to God you would do better next time. Only to find yourself wondering, why do I feel so tired? My friend, can I tell you something that changed my life? Jesus didn't come to make tired people try harder, he came to give weary people rest. Didn't he say, Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. He didn't say I'll give you another list or I'll give you another rule. He said, I will give you rest. I have to tell you, that is why I am so captivated by Jesus. People ask me sometimes, Ron, why do you talk so much about grace? Because I can't get over it. I honestly can't. That's why I often say I'm addicted to Jesus and allergic to sin. Now listen carefully. I'm not allergic to sin because I'm afraid God is going to swap me every time I mess up. I'm allergic to sin because I've discovered something infinitely better. When you've tasted grace, you don't crave the chains anymore. For years I thought Christianity was mostly about trying harder, you know, self-improvement. Maybe you did too. I thought if I worked harder, God would be happier with me. If I prayed enough, if I read enough, if I behaved enough, maybe I'd finally feel accepted. Then one day the gospel hit me. It hit me not on my head, but my heart. I realized something. Religion says do. Jesus says done. Religion says keep trying. Jesus says it is finished. Religion says maybe someday you'll measure up. But Jesus says, you are my beloved. Walk with me. Listen to these incredible words from Scripture. The Bible says that the record of debt that stood against us was nailed to the cross. Think about that. Every failure, every sin, every regret, every shameful moment, Jesus didn't ignore it. He paid for it completely. The cross wasn't a down payment, it was full payment. That's why just before he died, Jesus didn't say, I'm almost finished. He said, It is finished. Those three words changed everything. Now let me tell you something that absolutely thrills my heart. Grace isn't God lowering the standard. Grace is God changing the heart. There's a huge difference. Some people hear a message about grace and immediately ask, so are you saying people should just go out and sin? No. I'm saying something much bigger than that. When someone truly understands how deeply they are loved by Jesus, something changes inside them. Not because they're afraid, but because they're grateful. I don't wake up in the morning wondering how close can I get to sin without getting in trouble. No, I wake up thinking Jesus has been so unbelievably good to me. How can I walk closely with him today? That's a completely different motivation. I love what the apostle Paul wrote. He said, The grace of God teaches us how to live. Think about that. Grace is a teacher, religion points a finger, grace reaches out its hand, religion says, try harder. Grace says, walk with me. Religion changes behavior for a while. Grace changes hearts forever. You know what I've discovered after interviewing hundreds of people? The people who experience the greatest freedom are rarely the ones trying to impress God. They are the ones who are overwhelmed that God loves them anyway. I've interviewed people who were addicted to drugs, people who spent years in prison, people who lost everything, people who thought they had gone too far, and never once heard someone say, I finally changed because someone condemned me enough. Never did I hear that. But I've heard countless people say, I finally changed because I discovered Jesus loved me more than I ever imagined. Friends, that's grace. And here's something that has become very personal to me. When I was lying in that ICU bed, I wasn't thinking, I hope I've done enough. I wasn't trying to remember whether I had checked enough religious boxes. I found myself resting in one simple truth. Jesus has already done enough. That doesn't make me careless, it makes me grateful. It doesn't make me want less of Jesus, it makes me want more. Because perfect love doesn't push us away, perfect love draws us
The Prison Door Is Open
Ron Meyerscloser. Can I tell you something I've observed as a people watcher? Many people are living like prisoners, even though the prison door is standing wide open. Imagine someone sitting in a jail cell. The door has been unlocked, the chains have been removed, the judge has signed the pardon, but the prisoner refuses to walk out because he doesn't believe it's really true. How many Christians live like that? Forgiven, but still carrying shame, loved, but still trying to earn love. Accepted, but still striving for acceptance. Free, but still living like slaves. My friend, Jesus didn't die to improve your prison cell. He came to lead you out of it. Maybe that's why so many people never stop and smell the roses. They're too busy trying to earn what has already been given. They're so focused on becoming acceptable, they miss the incredible truth. In Christ, they already are. And when the truth settles into your heart, everything changes. You begin to notice God's goodness. You begin to notice people instead of just problems. You begin to notice opportunities instead of obstacles. You begin to wake up each morning not asking, God, how can I make you love me today? But instead asking, Father, thank you for already loving me. Show me how to love others today. That is the abundant life Jesus talked about. Not life without problems, a life overflowing with his presence. So let me ask you a question. What burden are you carrying today that Jesus already carried to the cross? Is it guilt, shame, fear, the pressure to be perfect, the belief that you'll never be enough? Friend, lay it down. Jesus isn't asking you to carry it one more day. When we come back in part three, I want to challenge you to do something very simple, but it might just change the rest of your life. We're going to talk about how to truly live, how to stop waiting, how to stop rushing, how to stop merely existing, and how to start noticing the incredible life God has already placed in front of you. I'll be right back.
SPEAKER_04You failed again. You promised yourself you'd do better, but here you are, back in the same place. The condemnation feels crushing. But grace is available through the sacrifice of Jesus. AnnouncerHow do you get the hell out of your life? Get on your knees and cry out to the Lord. How to get the hell out of your life? Well, yeah, replace it with Jesus. We gotta be born again, born of the Spirit, and that's by trusting Jesus Christ, turning from our sins and trusting Jesus. How do you get the hell out of your life? Oh gosh.
Ron MeyersJesus. Jesus. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.
Stop Waiting And Live Today
Ron MeyersWelcome back, my friend. Today we've been talking about something that is so easy to miss. Life. Not next week. Not next year. Not someday today. You know, I think one of the greatest tricks of the enemy isn't always getting us to do something terrible. Sometimes it's simply convincing us to wait. Wait until you're happier. Wait until you have more money. Wait until the kids are growing. Wait until you retire. Wait until life settles down. Wait until you have more confidence. Wait until you know more about the Bible. Wait, wait, wait. And while we're waiting, life keeps moving. Children grow up, parents grow older, friendships drift, opportunities pass by, another birthday comes, another Christmas, another summer, and one day we wake up wondering, where did it all go? Jesus never called people to someday. He always called people to today. Follow me. Come to me. Go. His invitation has always been immediate because Jesus knows something we often forget. Today is where life is lived. Not yesterday, not tomorrow, but today. I have another question for you. When was the last time you watched a sunrise? Not while checking your phone, not while thinking about your schedule. Just watched it. When was the last time you laughed so hard your stomach hurt? When was the last time you told your spouse I love you? Not because it was an anniversary, not because you felt obligated, just because you wanted them to know. When was the last time you hugged your kids or your grandkids a little longer than usual? When was the last time you sat quietly, opened God's word, and simply enjoyed being with Jesus? Those moments, that's life. I think about my four-year-old granddaughter. She still sees wonder everywhere. She notices butterflies, she gets excited over puddles after a rainstorm. She laughs without worrying who's watching. She asks questions. She notices things that most adults walk right past. And I wonder, when did we stop doing that? When did we become so busy that we stopped noticing God's fingerprints? Maybe Jesus wasn't exaggerating when he said we should become like little children. Maybe children see things we've forgotten how to see. You know, I've interviewed hundreds of people over the years. People who have lost everything, people who have overcome addiction, people who have beaten impossible odds, people who have found Jesus after years of running. And if they've taught me anything, it's this nobody has ever told me they wished that. They loved less. Nobody has ever said, I wish I encouraged fewer people. I wish I would have trusted Jesus less. No, they don't say that. Almost everyone says some version of I wish I had started sooner. Maybe that's you today. Maybe you've been waiting to forgive, waiting to make that phone call, waiting to start reading your Bible, waiting to tell someone about Jesus, waiting to chase that dream God placed in your heart, waiting to believe that God has already forgiven you. Friend, stop waiting. Not because I'm telling you to, because Jesus already invited you. Here's something I've learned. God rarely shows the entire staircase, he usually shows us the next step. Think about Noah. God didn't tell him every detail. He said, Build. Think about Abraham. Go. Think about Peter. Come. Think about the disciples. Follow me. Every great story in the Bible began with one step of obedience, not ten. One. So let me give you Ron's next step. I don't want you to remember 20 things from today's podcast. I want you to remember one. Live today. Today, tell someone you love them. Today, forgive someone. Today, encourage someone. Today, smile at a stranger. Today, turn your phone off for a few minutes. Today, sit outside and thank God for the breeze, the birds, the clouds, and the sunshine. Today, read one chapter of your Bible. Today, spend ten quiet minutes with Jesus. Today, stop and smell the roses. Because today cannot be replayed. Today cannot be refunded. Today cannot become a do-over. This day is a gift. That's why they call it the present. And before we close, I want to leave you with one final thought. Maybe the greatest miracle you'll experience this week won't be that God changes your circumstances. Maybe the miracle will be that He changes the way you see them. Maybe you'll notice the beauty where you once saw inconvenience. Maybe you'll notice opportunity where you once saw interruption. Maybe you'll notice a lonely person who simply needed someone to smile. Maybe you'll notice that God has been speaking to you through ordinary moments all along. Don't wait for a funeral to tell someone you love them. Don't wait until your children are grown to play on the floor with them. Don't wait until retirement to enjoy today. Don't wait until you feel worthy to come to Jesus. Because here's the beautiful truth. You'll begin living because of his love. And that's why I love Jesus so much. That's why I can't stop talking about him. And that's why I often tell people I'm addicted to Jesus and allergic to sin. Not because I'm afraid, but because I have found something infinitely better. I found a Savior who knows me completely, loves me completely, forgives me completely, and walks with me every single day. Friend, that's the life I want for you. So this week, lift your head, look around, notice the people, notice the beauty, notice the opportunities, notice the fingerprints of God that are all around you. And when you hear that still small voice, follow it because the author of your story is still writing. And I have a feeling the best chapter may be the one you're about to live. I will be back next week with another grace-filled episode of Get the Hell Out of Your Life available wherever you listen to
